Clint Eastwood

Bumbles Through

Invisible Obama Schtick

8/31/2012 6:05 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Clint Eastwood brought down the partisan crowd at the RNC by stumbling through an 11-minute bit last night that was supposed to be painfully hysterical ... but might have been just painful.

The legendary actor/director got on stage and addressed an empty stool next to him, saying ... "I've got Mr. Obama sitting here. I just was gonna ask him a couple questions."

During the schtick 82-year-old Clint seemed confused at times as he critiqued the President's 4 years in office ... and set up punchlines like, "What do you want me to tell Romney? I can't tell him to do that. He can't do that to himself."

President Obama responded to the invisible routine this morning by tweeting a pic of the back of his chair with the message, "This seat's taken."

No doubt, landing an icon like Eastwood to warm up the crowd for Mitt Romney was a coup for the GOP -- but still, we gotta ask ...

Hey TMZ - guess what, you are NOT a news outlet. You report the underbelly of life - Kardashians, Jersey Shore, Honey Boo Boo. Leave the news to professionals.

For a "bumbling" speech, it sure has everyone buzzing and talking.
and if you can't murder the message, all you have left is to attack the messenger.
Too bad Hollywood doesn't have the collective intelligence to discuss the issues - or would discussing Obama's tenure in office leave YOU talking to and about an empty chair?

This really Kills me.... Can someone tell me how you expect for Prez. Obama to fix this economy in 4 years that someone took 8 years to SCREW UP!!!
( GAS PRICES STARTED WHEN WHO WAS PREZ??.) Who owns the oil companies?? In the past 4 years (and counting) I have seen a lot of change!!! When he gave out extra income tax credit... WHERE was the fuss????? He started the economy moving again. The problem as I see it... IT'S NOT the Prez that has the issuses.. he's trying... it's the congress that will not allow him to do what he needs to do.. SO please think about this before you judge... 2012 OBAMA

You people are just either plain stupid or totally ignorant. You do realize before GW took down the entire economy and took us to a false war (which is the majority of the deficit consists of) he, George, only created 4 million jobs in 8 (EIGHT) YEARS! And you this still the worst recession since the great depression, morons. How the heck does Mitt think he can create 12 million jobs, it gonna happen! Get real. Bush took us here and it's gonna take a very long time to get us out, as it did with the great depression! Get a clue!

It's certainly sad to see a successful, talented actor/director like Eastwood behave like this, especially in his twilight years. This is what he'll be remembered for (?) That's sad.

This was a complete embarrasment to Mr. Romney. I am in NO way a repub but I certainly respect Romney for his willingness and contributions and campaign. Any and all AMERICANS should respect our President and show respect for pete's sake. I wouldn't want that job! Who cares what your party is, have some respect! The repubs are all so nasty and's a joke. As I said, GW BUSH ONLY created 4 million jobs in his entire 8 years. What the h@LL do you really think Romney is going to do for you? Reagans Trickle Down didn't work. The facts are, there's not one thing Romney is going to do for ANY of you unless you're in the 1 - 2% high income. And, it's typically the red states, poor - uneducated states who collect and need the most government assistance, it's a joke, 'they often have no extended education and vote on anti this and hate speech - social BS, while they're waiting for their food stamps.

This was the greatest economic disaster since the Great Depression, no way 4 years could fix it! Romney was pro choice, voted for the war, mandated health care, all type of demo initiatives then he 'changed his mind'. give me a break. Obama has done what he was elected to do....and he will win again. Romney has no ability to fix this mess with lowering taxes for the wealthiest. Thus, what in pete's sake do you vote for?

Hollywood, why is the box offices down and profits are too.orking folks who pay to see your product
Is it
1.) Your product sucks
2.) The working folks who go to see your product for entertainment are OUT of WORK and are scrounging nickels, dimes and quarters to buy milk and gas for their cars?
It is one or the other,
It is time for a change.
The people who support your industry are suffering.
Obama has prolonged and worsened the AGONY - he isn't capable of turning it around -

a party that did fail big time for 8 years and then did everything to make the government and country fail for another 4 years just to be re-elected absolutely has not deserved to get back to power. amazing how 50% of america are being taken in by rude propaganda of some rich jerks and ignore all facts.
