Mayumi Heene

Mayumi Heene is best known as the mom of "Balloon Boy"- an incident that gained national attention in October, 2009, when a huge helium balloon floating in the atmosphere was thought to contain her son, Falcon Heene, who was six. It was later discovered that the Mayumi and her husband, Richard, created the whole thing, in an attempt to make the family seem marketable to reality show producers. Richard was sentenced to jail for his role in the hoax, while Mayumi received community service. The couple was ordered to pay for the cost of the rescue effort- totaling more than $30 thousand.
