Roy Eugene Williams, Jr. (born December 20, 1981) is an American football wide receiver for the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League. He was drafted by the Detroit Lions 7th overall in the 2004 NFL Draft. He played college football at The University of Texas. Roy Williams was adopted at age six by two caucasian parents, Roy has repeatedly expressed how difficult it was growing up in Texas as a member of a biracial family. However, Roy claims that teasing only made him practice harder to prove himself to his peers. He went to high school at Permian High School (Odessa, TX), where he starred in multiple sports. He lettered in football, track, baseball, and basketball earning all-state honors in football and track as well as all-district accolades in baseball. Arriving at the University of Texas, Williams and freshmen receivers BJ Johnson and Sloan Thomas were touted as the most talented group of incoming receivers in school history.
