Brown University 2 People Killed in Shooting ... Many More Rushed to Hospital
3:35 PM PT -- Providence Mayor Brett Smiley just announced at a press conference that at least two people are dead while eight are in critical, but stable condition at this time. These numbers may change.

The search is still underway for the perpetrator or perpetrators of the incident, Deputy Chief of Providence Police Tim O'Hara announced ... and, he's urging people to continue to shelter in place.
Mayor Smiley says a person was taken into custody earlier who was believed to be a suspect ... however, it was later determined they weren't involved -- which explains why Brown University previously told students a suspect was found. .
Multiple people at Brown University have been injured during an active shooting situation ... according to Providence, Rhode Island police.
The university shared news of the shooting Saturday afternoon ... updating students and members of the community that an active shooter was near the Barus and Holley Building on the east side of the campus.
While university officials previously said a suspect is in custody, a later alert corrected that error. There is no one in custody at this time ... and the admin still recommends those on campus stay quiet and lock themselves inside buildings if possible.
Video is already circulating online, which shows officers walking from their police cars into the building.
It's a large group ... with approximately 10 cops marching up to the door and heading inside. It's hard to tell if they have guns drawn in the clip.
Rhode Island Governor Dan McKee posted in the immediate aftermath ... sharing his administration is monitoring the shooting and state police are working with local law enforcement -- before adding he's "Praying for our community."

President Donald Trump also shared he'd been briefed on the shooting and claimed the suspect is in custody ... before sharing a new post, echoing what officials have said about the suspect still being at large. The president attended the Army-Navy college football game in Baltimore Saturday afternoon.
Students were slowly evacuated from the campus in the hours following the shooting,
