Pharrell Williams is setting new standards of bling.

The mogul-turned-singer showed off his new 18-karat-gold Blackberry during a stopover in New York to promote his solo album, "In My Mind."

Williams' Blackberry was designed by Jacob Arabo, the New York bling king known as Jacob the Jeweler. Arabo was arrested in June as part of a nationwide drug and money-laundering sweep and currently is awaiting his next court date.

People who do things like this for no reason other than to display their outrageous wealth should be shot live on national television. Enough of these "blingy" retards end up choking on their own blood on screen, the less we'll see this sort of crap being done.

if only folks paid more attention to stuff like this:

Rapper/ super producer Pharrell Williams has announced plans to open a computer-based community resource center in his hometown of Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Plans could be presented to City Council as soon as next month, according to Don Maxwell, director of economic development in Virginia Beach.

Currently, Williams' plans include a Discovery Channel special on the site's development. He's also in talks with Microsoft and Apple to wire the facility and has tapped a local architect to design the building. The location, capacity and cost of the proposed center are being determined.

Williams said he was inspired by his own upbringing and the lack of opportunities available to youths in low-income neighborhoods.

"There are so many routes you can take as a young minority in Virginia. You can have somebody teach you in the hood how to make, manufacture and intend to distribute crack cocaine, or we could buckle down and educate our youth, and one of these kids could be the next chemist for Pfizer," said Williams, who found success as half of the hip hop duo The Neptunes.

"We've got to do something about it. We've got to stand up."
