Haley Joel Osment To Be Charged With DUI/Pot Possession

8/17/2006 4:00 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

TMZ broke the story that the LA County District Attorney planned to file criminal charges against Haley Joel Osment. Well, it happened Thursday afternoon.

Osment, 18, has been charged with misdemeanor driving under the influence of alcohol. Osment has also been charged with driving with a .08 blood alcohol level or higher, with an enhancement of driving with a .15 or higher. Osment was also charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana while driving. Finally, Osment was charged with the infraction of driving under the age of 21 with a blood alcohol level of .05 or higher.

Osment, who was nominated for an Oscar for his role in "The Sixth Sense" at age 11, lost control of his 1995 Saturn on his way home and collided with a brick pillar in a suburb around 1 a.m. on July 20. No bystanders were injured in the wreck, but Osment wasn't so lucky: the actor was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was treated for a broken rib and a shoulder injury.

The collision caused the vehicle to flip over onto its roof and come to rest a short distance from the initial impact. The actor was reportedly alert and talkative following the accident, and was alone at the time of the crash.

Needs to be careful or he will be making or joining dead people. Pehaps he should join Mel Gibson in recovery?

Jason,

The government can make money off pot the same way they do off cigaretts. Sell it by the pack at the gas station with the tax stamp on the bottom. Oh, wait!

The price would go down and then they wouldn't make as much as they do now with their clandestine drug dealing, using the DOJ and the CIA to import and move it. Shucks, the only thing that got cheaper during the Reagan administration was cocaine. And now, it appears that they allow the Afganies to export smack to the US. I bet the price is going down on that too.

Oh pahleese shaddup about the titles of marijuan, drug, herb, jeeesh. It is not advantageous for everyone and basically only for a select few. Been in the medical profession for over 25 years and have pulled the preverbial sheet over their faces, well over three hundred times. And the story begins with 100 percent of the time marijuana, herb ***t, weed, grass, what ever you want to call it it is an altering chemical that decreases your inability to say "NO" to what ever foundational learning for self preservation to life and health, be it safe sex, over indulgence to alcohol or to the offer of another expereince for another drug. Oxygen in its purest form is a drug. Hyperventilate for 15 minutes and your brain causes you to stop breathing due to the absent trigger of CO2 required to communicate your next breath needed. I have heard it all, its a good natural expectorant, loosens secretions, enhances appetite, suppresses appetite, calms me, decreases my bipolar disorder, erases my depression. For all those listed and their are other excuses, Drink water to hydrated yourself and a good cough will bring all that crud up, meditate and get therapy for your bulemia/anorexia, tip to through the tulips for your depression and stop listening to others that tell you that you are worthless, Buy into a relationship with a great big God. You dont need to ratioanalize your use of marijuana. Plain and simple you just want to smoke it. You are 21, go ahead have a blast, however the ages are much younger when they start, documented at the age of ten! An herb? Cut me a break!

I think he is just a kid that screwed up experimenting. As far as the 1995 Saturn, he may at least have a good head on his shoulders not letting his fame get the best of him. Like all famous people, they mess up like the rest of us, only thier problems are exposed. Leave them alone!!!!!!!
