Piven to Billy -- You're "Bush" League

8/28/2006 1:40 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Click to return to TMZ.comSometimes Billy Bush just doesn't know when to quit -- and last night on the Emmy red carpet, Jeremy Piven lashed out at him for it. Last night, during the red-carpet prelude to the Emmys, "Access Hollywood's" Bush corralled "Entourage's" Piven, and began a line of questioning concerning celebrity babies. Piven had just flown in from Arizona, where he was shooting a movie with Jennifer Garner, and so Bush asked him about Garner's baby Violet.

Bush then asked Piven if, given that Piven lives in Malibu, whether he had laid eyes on Brangelina's baby Shiloh. Piven said he hadn't, explaining that he had "116 other things to do...I don't go hunting for celebrity babies, thank you, Billy."

"You need another job. You have potential as a human being..."

Undeterred, or clearly not getting the message, Bush then asked if he'd seen Suri Cruise. Piven finally lost his patience. "You need another job. You have potential as a human being," said Piven, not at all hiding his irritation. "This may not be right for you. Seriously -- can you focus on other things?"

At least Bush got one thing right. He predicted -- correctly -- that Jeremy Piven would get his statuette, and Piven did, for his role as Ari Gold.

I thought most of the questions posed on the red carpet were idiotic. Everyone seemed awkward. And the interviewers were talking over each other, missing cues and then asking really stupid questions. Isn't it enough that the celebrity baby talk is on every freaking magazine? They're babies...woohoo! Over it. Jeremy Piven wasn't mean. I would have been annoyed with the rapid succession of baby questions. Let's talk about his work on "Entourage" or something relevant. If he were to say, "Yeah I have seen baby Violet" would that change anyone's life? No..it would be a dead end answer to a stupid question.

The Pivs is a great actor....he did win didn't he??? Billy needs to "polish up on his interviewing skills." Why would he assume that Jeremy has seen Suri or Shiloh? Just because he's an actor/celebrity doesn't meen that he's hanging at Brad and Angelina's place!?!? And who cares??? Billy Bush is such an annoying reporter! UGH!

I think what Jeremy said is hilarious. It was as if Billy wasn't even listening to Jeremy's answers and was looking around the whole time....and why would he keep asking him if he saw those celebrity babies? Its a totally random thing to ask...he should be asking about Entourage...not celebrity babies.

Billy Bush is Red Carpet parsley.....the stuff you scrape off of your plate in order to enjoy your meal. What ignorant fool calls him an "interviewer?" He has the same job that Stuttering John had: Make celebs feel uncomfortable enough that they give him what he wants to hear. Who the hell cares who's seen whose baby?!? You're at an awards show.......can't think of anything better to discuss? He does need another job. Maybe one with cue cards. Jeremy Piven rocks. So no other actors have made crappy movies?!? Come on. These Red Carpet Parasites should understand that in "coralling" celebs, they're fair game!

At first I thought it was ok for Piven to react that way to the ridiculous questions the interviewer was asking. But the more I read about this guy, the more I see that he's pretty much rude and obnoxious in most interview situations.

"but you should not embarrass a reporter in public like that."

LOL...calling Billy Bush a "reporter" sullies the good name of journalism.

Go Jeremy! It's about time someone called out the entertainment media for its over-the-top fascination with celebrity babies.

Bush is an embarrassment and unfortunately even if we wrote to NBC, he'd still have his cushy job.
I actually wrote to NBC last night because Nancy O'Dell was so inappropriate asking Jon Voight about Angelina. Regardless of what the problem is with those two, she had no right to say anything. It was a night to celebrate, not dredge up family crap.
Besides, I just wanted to watch for the fashion. I never watch Access Hollywood and after seeing those jerks last night, I never will.

Jeremy has a right to get annoyed. Billy clearly was more interested in babies and not about the actor. He kept looking around and not even focusing on what Jeremy was saying. I think Billy was the rude person.

Billy Bush is NOT a reporter. Those of us who work as reporters, even for very small publications, would never ask such idiot questions. This fool is paid big money and is just a dolt. I can't even watch his show, he is so horrible.
And maybe when his idiot relative is out of the White House Billy, too, will need another job.
(And count me as a new Jeremy Piven fan)

What I can't believe is the number of people that think what Piven said was humiliating or a slam.

Have we become a country of puss*es? (Don't answer that. The answer lies in the question!)

If you want to know about celebrity babies buy one of the 35 magazines at your local supermarket or go to one of the infinite number of websites that cater to this crap. Does Jeremey Piven being in the "public eye" really relegate him to discuss other peoples babies.

Even Billy new he was dumb asking those questions and it looked like he laughed it off anyways. No blood no foul!!!!!!! Access Hollywood probably set up the whole damn thing anyways, and look at all the free press they've got!!

Jeremy Piven was too kind to that idiot Bush. Why would Bush even ask the first stupid question about someone's baby??? Let alone follow up with two others. I love the fact that Jeremy called him out on his incompetent interviewing
techniques. It must run in the family!!

I saw that interview, as it happened,.....Jeremy Piven, on the night of his life,......being asked about celebrity babies. I used to like Billy Bush, but he is getting more and more like a gossip whore,.......Jeremy Piven has been around for a long time, and working steady. Billy should have either stoppped drinking that night,....or friggin' gone home. As he kept trying to interview,.......you could see how annoyed Jeremy got,.......was Billy blind that night? Keep rockin' Jeremy,.......Billy deserved it, right between his eyes.

Piven looks like a camel, a camel in need of a shave. This guy has played the same character in every role I've ever seen him play. Ten years from now, no one will even remember who he was except for this freaking Bush guy so maybe the two of them should get married and have couple of celeb butt babies of their own. No one with so little talent should be lashing out at someone else, even if that someone else has the same lack of talent. Hey, Piven, the next time you undertake those one hundred and sixteen other things, try making a bath and a shave a couple of them. Camel!!!
