Star Catcher
Christina's MAC Attack

Christina Aguilera sparked a flashbulb frenzy in New York last night at one of the sexiest events the Big Apple has ever seen. Lil' Kim also kept the red carpet blazing, along with MAC's newest spokeswomen Dita Von Teese and Lisa Marie Presley at the MAC Viva Glam party in New York City.

The glamazons have teamed up with MAC to promote the new Viva Glam VI Lipstick and Lipglass. 100% of the proceeds are donated from the sale of these colors go to people living with HIV/AIDS.

1. This has little to do with this blog, but does anyone know if MAC/department store cosmetics
are indeed superior to the drugstore brands?

If so which brands and/or products?

I've never really been into make-up but lately I've wanted to buy some quality products and
and am not sure whether I should spend more in order to get better quality or are they
more or less the same and the higher prices are to be accounted for by the need to
pay high-end spokespeople like Aguilera?

Just wondering, so If anyone has any advice I'd be grateful.

Thanks,

Jen

2. She tries way to hard to be marylin monroe sexy. she is pretty but not in the same way. sexy should just be natural...not with 8 pounds of make-up and a couple bottles of bleach.

3. Hi Jen,

the cosmetics of MAC are not as good as other "High-End" cosmetics, but the prices of Clinique, Biotherm and Esthe Lauder are not so over the top and the products are great. Dior, Chanel and Yves Saint Laurent are a little bit too expensiv for the same quality of colors and materials. So thats what I know about, hope it will help a little bit! Nice days!

4. MAC cosmetics are awesome....I don't believe in buying the most expensive or the cheapest so it's a great middle ground....they have a foundation called "fix" that is great..it makes your face feel like you are not wearing make-up....but I still feel like mascara is mascara and buy cover girl.

5. to #2- marilyns hair was also bleached. her natural color is brown. just an fyi. and most people would not have that hair color naturally. why judge her? maybe she feels like her like that and does not care if she is beautiful to other people besides her? if shes happy with herself that way- then i say let her be. :) it doesnt hurt you.

6. I suggest you go to a MAC cosmetic counter and discover the difference for yourself. It is huge! The reason Dita Von Tease and Christina Agularia are assosiated with MAC is to promote the Viva Glam program. They are advertising a lipstick where 100% of the selling cost (the whole 14$) is donated to the MAC Aids Fund. So far the company has raised over 80 MILLION dollars that has been donated to people living with HIV and AIDS. I do not believe that these celebrities are compensated by MAC, and other then their Viva Glam products, MAC does not advertise. Your comment about the need for this company to pay celebrities is crazy and false. Again, I suggest you do some research and visit a counter before you assume incorrectly.

7. Christina is incredibly talented and I love her. As far as the whole M.A.C. cosmetics goes: yes they are great! It's great for a long day where you only want to touch up; and easily changed into evening/clubbing makeup. Try the "quick fix" spray. It's great.

Long live XTINA!
