Richard Simmons adjusted his junk ... on live TV!

Simmons was seen on "Today" this morning, sticking his hand into his terrifying short shorts and adjusting his package, unaware that cameras were on him!

Cutting back to the hosts just seconds too late, Matt Lauer asked, "What is he doing there?" as the group broke into laughter. Before jumping to the weather, Al Roker said, "That was scary, something for YouTube" -- and perfect for TMZ!

3. Awwww! Poor Richard!!! I feel so bad for him. It seems like he's such a nice guy (a little wacky...but hey!) and it seems like he always ends up being the butt of the joke.
Well.... I like him. I think he' s sweet. I support what he does and what he stands for. SHAKE IT OFF RICHARD!

11. "So what if he was adjusting himself ?" Becci asks? God gawd, doesn't anyone have any manners or modesty these days? Come on, on national TV no less? No class at all. Even if he thought he was off-camera, why would the other members of the crew want or need to see that? I wouldn't even want to see that kind of behavior in the lockeroom or gym. Just plain nasty!! Definitely something wrong with him.
