Paris Bombed in Vienna

Click to return to TMZ.comParis Hilton had to abort an autograph session in Vienna after cigarette packs and lipsticks were hurled at the globetrotting celebutante, who was quickly waltzed out by security.

"Stars Are Blind" can be heard playing in the backgroud as unruly onlookers began assaulting Paris with sundry projectiles. Paris is in Austria to attend the Vienna Opera Ball, Austria's society event of the year.

Hilton is the guest of Richard Lugner, a 74-year-old married construction magnate who invites a different celeb to be his date each year. His previous guests have included "Spice Girl" Geri Halliwell, Pamela Anderson and Carmen Electra.

8. Hmmm. This controversy reminds me of the controversy today over whether Matthew Broderick and Nathan Lane should reprise their roles in "The Producers" this spring for six weeks at $200,000 per week before the show closes.

Apparently Nathan wants to but Matthew doesn't because he isn't sure they would sell out the house.

What I think Matthew should do is commit to a four-week reprisal and give all of his earnings from that -- $800,000 -- to a charity such as www.CreateSomethingGood.org . And he should get the producers of "The Producers" to commit to giving 10% of the box office to charity.

A charitible gesture such as this would ensure the house is sold out, and if Mr. Broderick enjoys acting -- which he seems to -- then there is no reason he should not do this, especially if he can use it to raise $1 million for a charity of his choosing.

This is how people become legends and role models to a new generation.

Perhaps the producers of "The Producers" can get Bill and Melinda Gates of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to set up a matching grant to whatever charity is chosen, so that the effect is multiplied. A month is a fairly short amount of time.
