Celebrity Justice
Paris Does Not Lack Appeal

Paris Hilton's lawyer has made it official -- Paris has filed a notice with the court, vowing to appeal her 45-day jail sentence.

The notice is a formality that lawyers are required to file before lodging the appeal. It does not give the grounds for the appeal, but Hilton's lawyers must essentially prove that the trial judge abused his discretion by imposing the sentence.

212. I think she should stop all the drama and take her sentence. Her sentence is alot less then the Hilton Hotel in Nirobi Kena gave my brother on June 16 2006, he died because of the arogant Hotel staff that would not go to my brothers aid. I have contacted the Hilton Hotel chain many times but they have not responded as of this date.

214. paris' handlers have authored a petition addressed to the governor and is hoping that her fans will sign it. it compares paris' offense to that of other celebs who have only received a slap on the wrist for their crimes, that were by comparrison much worse than anything the heiress has done...it also goes on to state how influential paris has been on the ho-hum lives of her public by enlivening their other wise boring existance...GAG...i would never have believed this if someone told had of toldme, but i read this myself and as a result i am sick to my stomach.

215. paris (or rather paris' team of handlers)have authored a petition for the Gov. to blow off the judges ruling...it goes on and on about her celebrity and of other celebs whos crimes are much worse than hers by comparison...she wants all of her fans to sign it,because she loves you. GAG. it also mentioned how she has meant so much to so many as an entertainer who brings excitement to the other-wise boring lives of her public. I AM GOING TO BE SICK.

216. This petition is ludacris. If this were any other tax paying, hard working American they would find themselves in jail doing the time. Key word is HARD WORKING. It is unfortunate that parents who raise such spoiled children are not held accountable as well when their children break laws. Mother Hilton screams and rants of how "pathetic" this ruling is. She should have thought about her contribution to her problem child who is a product of who raised her. This is a classic example of how society has arrived with the problems they face today, especially with regard to our youth. Parents need to take back the control and discipline of their children and teach them responsibility again!
This country has GOT TO STOP giving anyone preferential treatment......regardless of status, money, fame, gender. I think it is appalling how the laws continue to change to fit certain people's needs/wants. If we had tougher first time offender penalties, it would help to deter unlawful behaviors a second time around, giving the offender the "fear of God" to ever consider trying it again.
I applaud this judge. I would agree with my son who said that Judge Sauer should have all celebrity cases brought to his courtroom. At least this man wants to uphold the law regardless of who the person is. Let's hope this will set a precedent over future cases for celebrities.

If you want something done you'll find a way. If you don't want something done you'll find an excuse.

217. She looks so sad. Too freeking bad!!! This proves she thinks she is above everyone. Which makes her even less appealing than before.

218. If she gets out of her sentence than every drunk driver in the country should also get off. What makes her think, because she is rich, that she is above the law. Martha had to go to jail and so should Paris.
It is actually worst for her to commit this crime because she can afford a driver to take her anywhere, instead she put everyone on the road at risk, not just once, but several times.

Maybe she'll learn a little about the real world while she is in there. Lindsay, Brittany and Nicole should see this as a warning.

The governor best stay out of this.

219. What a bunch of haters! I go down the street and every girl is trying to look like her with the big glasses, blond hair. I didn't even know she had a suspended lic. Who cares. If the judge had seen her sex tape he would have just given her timed served!!!!!! Paris, ur the best!!!!

220. David Paul #120 - If Paris is famous for being herself, she's now also famous for being stupid.

221. In my opinion she should just give up and do her time... Why is it that just becuse of who she is she thinks she deserves special treatment? Girl, do your time, learn your lesson, and don't do it again!
I'm sick and tired of seeing "famous" ppl getting off scott free for the things they do that would have the "little ppl" like me in jail without anyone thinking twice about it.
Next thing you know one of these "hotshots" will murder somone and nothing will be done cause they're "famous"! It's just not right, just do your time... You messed up, pay the consequences...

222. She should serve the time. With her money driving with a suspended license instead of having someone drive her is a brattiness that should not be accepted. She knew her license was suspended. She signed for it the second time she was stopped for driving drunk. She's a fake, a real Tinseltown dumb blond that thinks that she can get away with anything because daddy is rich and I can bed any living man alive or othereise because I'm "La Hilton". Serve your time, bitch.

224. Paris Is not above the law!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All these celebrities drive drunk even kill people and still walk like nothing.....time for things to change!

225. Does the Californian justice system treat "celebrities" like every-day people or can someone as irresponsible as Paris Hilton get off just by batting her eyelashes?? She's holding her publicist/manager, Elliott Mintz as being responsible for her driving....while drunk because.....he told her it was okay to drive for....work. She's driving with a suspended license and doesn't know enought not to get behind the wheel of her car. She's not! above the law despite being the heir to the Hilton Hotel fortune.
There's a phrase, "If you can't do the time, then don't do the crime!" She's backed her vehicle into the back of another car. This is the first time she's been under the influence, while driving. And why is the judge in this case, being accused of being biased? Because a high-profile socialite gave her a well-deserved 45 days in jail??! So what?! She should do her jail time like anyone else and I hope she does her time. And....if her parents and her lawyer, succeed in getting her off.....that's license (pun intended) to her to do whatever, consequences be damned!!
