Looks like Dr. Addison Shepherd won't have to deal with Meredith Grey's whining much longer -- as Kate Walsh's "Grey's Anatomy" spinoff was all but confirmed through the in-your-face interrogation tactics of Ellen Degeneres.
Not content with waiting for upfronts, Ellen made a surprise phone call to ABC President Steve McPherson during a taping of her show yesterday, and out asked flat-out if Walsh's untitled project will be officially green-lit for a full season -- while a visibly embarassed Walsh watched in subdued horror.
The ABC honcho strung Kate along for a bit, joking that "she hasn't worked out very well on the air for us," then he let it slip that he "thinks she's in pretty good shape," ... and he wasn't talking about her killer stems.
