Did Lindsay Lohan throw away the chance to work with screen legend Shirley MacLaine after her weekend bust on suspicion of DUI? Is she quickly becoming the female equivalent of the former Robert Downey, Jr., i.e., an instant liability on film sets because of her crazy antics?
TMZ is told that "Poor Things" -- a crime caper about a granny gang starring MacLaine and Olympia Dukakis -- is set to begin shooting with Lohan on Thursday, with three weeks of location filming in Los Angeles. Lohan's court date on the DUI charge isn't until August, so that won't matter, but if she's checking into rehab, as has been reported, she clearly won't be around to work.
So far, the film's production company, Still Rolling Productions, tells the trades that the shoot won't be affected. No studio is yet attached, and calls to Lohan's people and MacLaine's reps haven't been returned.
But the bigger question is whether the drinking and drug problems are killing Lohan's career, making her uninsurable for films that studios and investors pour millions of dollars into -- because she's proven to be so erratic. One source tells TMZ that Lohan should be an absolute angel on the "Poor Things" shoot if she doesn't want to further jeopardize her career, and a film insurance executive tells TMZ that he would have to think "very, very hard" before insuring Lohan because she's become such "a loose cannon."
Lilo better get it in gear for this flick -- no one wants to see Shirley MacLaine angry!!

The clubs lety her drink so she can draw more people in and get fame for their name.I am glad to see some of you young people have woken up to this kind of trash and said no thanks I am proud above all pleased!

Well, it is 2007 and Shirley Maclaine's career has been over for a good decade. This sounds like it would have been a clone of Georgia Rule. Or in other words, a real snoozer.
I hate to see Lindsay screw herself up with drinking and drugs, but she also could have just dodged a career bullet that would have been worse for her!
Hope she does dump from making Hollywood movies. And it because of her trouble.
She was adorable in the Parent Trap....but then she grew up became a crack head skank. I can't stand her. Yes people make mistakes, but she NEVER seems to learn from them, as most people do. She gets a DUI and then goes out partying the very next day? At least Paris had the decency to stay away from the clubs for a little while after she got her jail sentence. Lindsay is going to kill herself, and I say let her, because she doesn't want help.
What studio would want to put out a movie with a DRUNK, COKED-UP 20-year old as its star???

Between her and Robert Downey, Jr. and some others, I never understand how they continue to get work in Hollywood. in the old days they had studio bosses that covered up these indiscretions and the public was kept in the dark (see Marilyn Monroe). I figure, these must be the two lowest paid actors in Hwd or have damn good agents, because insurance companies consider them high risk. So maybe whatever they make in salary there's a high deductible by the insurance company, lowering their asking price.
Everyone keeps saying how she (and Downey) are great actors. She especially seems to be crying for attention and love. She needs to get on the volunteer assignment roll call, do something charitable with her life.
Everybody around her is an enabler.
What is wrong with the people in her life? Where are they and why aren't they taking some action to intervene? Train wreck waiting to happen, indeed. And we were all saying the same thing not long before Anna Nicole died.
Wake up parents and real friends. It's time to end the party and get involved!
I'm not naive but hasn't anyone in the media wanted to question MORE and WHY this underage girl is allowed to get so hammered in clubs that supposedly are not to serve the underage? Not making excuses for Lohan's raunchy and just plain STUPID behavior, but come on! Also, what talent does she really bring to the screen? I can't see any evidence of it. Her mother should also just check herself in, both ho's, both wasting their lives.
