Probation Dept's Statement on Paris' Release

Paris HiltonThe following is a statement released by the Probation Department in Los Angeles:

"Paris Hilton was granted a conditional sentence in Los Angeles Metro Superior Court on January 22, 2007. A conditional sentence or "summary probation" is monitored by the court for compliance unless the court orders formal probation. Although not on formal probation, Ms. Hilton is supervised by the Los Angeles County probation department in regards to electronic monitoring.

Electronic Monitoring is an integral part of community-based alternatives to custody. The Electronic Monitoring (EM) program is available to Los Angeles County Courts as an alternative to custody in accordance with penal code. The probation department contracts with a private vendor to provide electronic monitoring services. Eligible post-sentence inmates are screened for eligibility or it may be court-ordered either prior to conviction as a pretrial release or after conviction as a sentence option.

Paris Hilton applied for the community based alternative to custody program and qualified as low-risk but the department did not recommend Electronic Monitoring because the court order specified ''no Electronic Monitoring.' The Sheriff Department exercised the authority to reassign Ms. Hilton to an Electronic Monitoring sentence."

I am so glad I am not a resident of california...this would be a total embarrassment...this just proves as long as you have money...you can get out of any legal mess...than paris hilton doesn't have to abide by the law.

47. Poor thing is having a break down? TOO BAD. How about all the other prisoners? Do they get to go to home arrest if they feel sad too? What did she expect? Yeah...being at her multi million dollar home with her friends....that will be a lesson to remember.

48. The only thing we as citizens can do at this point is MAKE SURE that this sheriff is NOT re-elected. This is an outrage and a slap in the face to regular, upstanding citizens. Of course the skank has mental problems, she is in jail for pity sake. I think instead of petitioning to put her ass back in jail, we should be petitioning to RECALL the sheriff in this case!

50. As an American citizen, I am not just angry, I am livid. There is obvious cause to suspect a payoff took place in the sheriff's office, and I want it investigated by a Federal agency.

If you have any disgust or anger about this at all, you need to file a complaint with the proper agency. If enough of us get our voices heard, this will have to be rescinded. This sets a precedent of the utmost audacity of the rich Hilton's to manipulate American law to suit their own purposes and to live their lives ABOVE the LAW.

When mama Hilton told the judge, "You are a joke!" she had a plan up her sleeve. Now she is bringing it to fruition. We can't let this fade away.

As soon as I find out how to file a complaint, I will be back here to post it. Please join me if you CARE about all the rest of us. This will open the door for more and more payoffs in the future if we don't stop it now.

Godspeed.

51. Summary probation is a joke...all she has to do is lay low for the remainder of time...that's it! She could still do coke, and drink margaritas!

56. Wow, amazing how a 24 year old gets treated like a little baby. WHY? Is it because she is a celebrity. Good for her being a celebrity. That's wonderful. So you are a celebrity you should be let go early, you should be treated different than the rest of the public, treated differently than the rest of the americans, you get released and serve the rest of your time in a freakin mansion. PLEASE GIVE ME A BREAK.

You justice people want to let her out like that then from now on whoever does wrong and has to serve time they should stay for three days in prison and be released to serve the rest of their time at home too. Only fair that way.

What does she think she is better because she is a celebrity. Does she think she is rich so she should be treated differently. She lives a rich lifestyle so she should be treated differently.

There's others with sicknesses in prisons, are they let out... nooooooooooo. PEOPLE SERVE THEIR TIME FOR DOING WRONG.

HER ASS NEEDS TO GO BACK TO JAIL AND SERVE HER TIME LIKE THE REST OF THE HUMAN BEINGS WOULD HAVE TO IF THEY DID WRONG. DON'T MATTER WHO THE HELL YOU ARE YOU DO WRONG YOU SERVE THE TIME.

COUGH IT UP PARIS AND START ACTING LIKE A MATURE PERSON AND DO IT THE RIGHT WAY. Who do you think you are?

What happened to all being treated equal.

What a disgusting american justice this is. What a shame.
