Pari$ Hilton Costs L.A. County a Bundle

ParisIt costs more than 10 times the normal amount to jail Paris Hilton.

TMZ contacted the Sheriff's Department to determine just how much money the County is spending on Hilton -- and it's way more than it costs to stay at a Hilton!

Sheriff's spokesperson Steve Whitmore tells TMZ the average cost per day for a female inmate is $99.64. Paris, well, ain't no bargain. It costs $1,109.78 to keep her locked up. The costs include medical treatment and staff associated with her needs.

By the way, if Hilton were under house arrest, it would cost taxpayers zilch. The inmate shells out the cost of doing time at home.

46. The poll is bogus. The vote count keeps going up, but the stats don't change. I KNOW more people are voting it is worth it. It is a lie anyway that she costs that much more. The people have to work there anyway. What, is her med cost so high, and are they feeding her from 5-star restaurants? Buying her name-brand clothes? Paying people to keep her extensions nice? Cut out the special treatment and it won't cost anymore than anyone else in there. If it does, fine her sorry ass for being late to court and that will pay for her stay!

47. Yes, Harvey basically offended his readers. He doesn't check the comments because of the "kinds of people" who post here. Oh, but he checks the polls. Well Sherlock it's the SAME DAMN PEOPLE!

48. In Michigan you pay $40.00 a day to be in Jail...thats for a poor person, It depends on what you make...As far as medical cost....You pay your own in this State, They send you a fat bill to pay......And you do pay or it goes right off to collection. She should have to pay for her own housing and medical costs

49. If they want to make a profit, have guided tours of her sitting in a CELL not a hospital bed.

50. This is a very manipulative poll. This should be Would it be worth it for Paris to be jailed without special treatment. Of course it isn't worth it - she is costing us a fortune because Baca is kissing her ass.

51. One thing captain tina is forgetting, is that the violation here is not drunken driving, but rather, violation of probation. Ditsy Paris plead guilty and was put on probation and had her license suspended. There was a sentence imposed, (usually 45 days in jail) and her license was suspended. When Paris was caught twice driving on a suspended license, her probation was revoked and her sentence vacated (hence serving her 45 days). She is not being made an example of, she is simply being held accountable like anyone else would.

52. All of this outrage is misguided! All of the outrage should be aimed at the fact LA County has an overcrowding issue and Sheriff Baca has to have a program in place to control the population. Our aim should be to make sure EVERYONE in LA County that is
sentenced to county jail serves their entire sentence! The entire country needs to deal
with the facts of how things are in LA County as told by Sheriff Baca. He stated the typical in Paris's situation. And it isn't what she is getting. All in the name of publicity. SHE
SHOULD BE LET FREE NOW AND NOT A SECOND FURTHER!!!!FREE PARIS! TREAT HER LIKE ANYONE AND EVERYONE IN LA COUNTY!!!!

55. I just wanna know why they just don't put her back at Lynwood...how many regular inmates would love to be in the medical ward getting f'd up on legal meds instead of being in the regular population...even if they're not famous...then it wouldn't cost us as much...also...if she wants to stay in the medical ward...give her the bill...she has money....she aint doing time...she's doing meds on taxpayer money...no preferential treatment means sending her back to Lynwood...screaming and whining and crying...

56. I see - so Paris Hilton is STILL getting celebrity treatment. It shouldn't cost anymore to keep her in jail than a normal inmate, unless she is getting special favors - of that which I am sure.

58. # 2 ......

You need to get a life. It is quite obvious you are religious. Only religious people talk that stupid. It is also obvious that you have had a nice perfect life. Good for you. It's hard to have such a "positive" attitude and care about the world, when you have been raped, been beaten to a bloody pulp for over 10 years and have had your identity stolen. I have been thru all that, and more, and I am only 37 years old !!! Sweet Paris is only 25 or so and is whining about a few days in jail for something SHE caused herself !!!! Sorry, but I have no sympathy for her or any other "star" who screws up. Have a great day !!!!

60. I'm damn glad Paris is in jail. It goes to show these rich people are not above the law. If the average person in America would have done the same crime we would have been given the same jail sentence. If we would have dissed the court system as Paris did, the sentence would have been harsher, so in a way she's getting off a little light.

Oh... and I don't give a flying fruitloop if she has a kind-of medical condition nor if she is too fragile to go to jail. There are many people that get sent to jail every day that are "sensative" or fragile... in other words they will be somebody's personal toy. That doesn't give them house arrest like Paris almost got. Whoopie, house arrest in a big ol 4 bedroom three bath house. Sign me up. Geez!

Want to whine about how much more expensive she is compared to the average female inmate? How about those with chronic illnesses that we have to pay extra for? So they should be given a break because they're costing us way too much? How about the illegal aliens in our country we have locked up? Geez they don't even belong in this country yet we're paying for their incarceration... their food, medicine, education, and cable TV.

All you pro-Paris people need to just shut your hole. Lock her up.... and for the next forty some-odd days keep her sorry skanky butt out of the news!
