No Nike Deal for Vick

7/28/2007 11:00 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Michael Vick is in deep doggy doo-doo with his endorsement partners for his alleged role in a dogfighting ring. The Atlanta Falcons quarterback has been suspended from big money contracts with Nike, Reebok and a trading card company, thanks to a federal dogfighting indictment against him.

This week, Nike suspended Vick without pay, and released a statement that "Nike is concerned by the serious and highly disturbing allegations made against Michael Vick, and we consider any cruelty to animals inhumane and abhorrent." The company vowed to stop selling Vick-related products but chose not to terminate his contact until his case was filed. Due process of puppy law!

Reebok opted to stop selling Vick's Falcons jersey, as has the NFL, which has suspended sales of Vick's number 7 jersey on nflshop.com. And the Donruss trading card company has pulled Vick's card from new packs.

Put Vick in the ring with one of the dogs. What takes so long for the NFL to get rid of him. Hopefully this brings this sport to the forefront and they will go after all these dog fighting venues.

We know who is unethical

Sebastian, what truth are they keeping alive?

I am no fan of Vick but in the eyes of the law he's innocent until proven guilty. Sure, the public has found him guilty. I believe he knew what was going on and was a participant. I also believe the Falcons knew as well. The falcons, supposedly, has covered up other past legal problems of Vick. But what is interesting is that so many of you who are outraged about this would applaud him if he was an abortion doctor doing partial birth (dilation and extraction) abortions and claiming it was a woman's right!

Sad that the truth of the abortion is something that TMZ won't discuss but will if there is a Republican involved but only to ridicule the Republican. In TMZ's world, dems can do no wrong.

He's a thug who happens to be athletic...someone who can be into stuff like that has very deep seeded issues and has probably much messier skeletons in the closet besides this. This probably barely scratches the surface.

I think that is wonderful that he is losing so much, so soon. Last night on CNN was a show called debate this, and the host was so upset becuase bascially we've already given Mike Vick the guilty verdict. I for one think this is crap. He is guilty, and he might not do too much time, but he will pay out of pocket very handsomely. This is sometimes better then jail time, for this is what means the most to people such as himself ( a loathing, filthly rich, thug jock) Hit him where it hurts right in his pocket. Then we can discuss other matters of punishment, much like a lot like what he did to those poor innocent dogs, who did nothing to deserve such inhumane treatment.

This is great news! Congratulations Nike - glad to see you finally doing the right thing. Kudos!

Sometimes "innocent until proven guilty" is just a technicality people.

Please in this country, everyone is innocent until proven guilty, unless of course your one of the weathly ones in this world, the Parises, the Nicoles, the Li Lo's of this world.. Read teh comment below yours of Annie, she hit it right on the head, this is just the scratching of the surface, there are many more sick deep issues this pig is harvesting, and I wish pray that he could be trialed right here in the good ole state of Florida.. yeppers they would hang his ass real good, for animals abuse here in Fla? The Warden,

Why don't you stick to the subject at hand and take your political views to the appropriate website?

Michael Vick is a sadistic thug and a sad excuse of a human being. True, he is innocent until proven guilty thus Nike, Reebok and the Falcons are SUSPENDING him until he's proven guilty. Then they can fire this bastard. And we all know he's guilty.

wow nike is such a hypocrite. they don't support cruelty to dogs but they support cruelty to kids in 3rd world countries that make their products. So basically they are going to fix this vick problem by pulling him but cant fix their terrible history violating child labor laws. they only care about profits and not dogs. i think the stores need to pull all nike material untill they treat kids better.

This isn't about abortion. It's about the appalling, disgusting inhumane reality of dog fighting.

Don't tell me he didn't know what was going on on his OWN property. I hope he gets kicked out of the NFL and does jail time. Then make him work in an animal shelter. He is disgusting and the lowest of humankind. No decent person will watch him play football again.

If he is found guilty - he should be punished, but if not, does the rule "innocent until proven guilty" not rule anymore??
