Malibu Celebs

On Fire Watch

10/21/2007 5:46 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

James Cameron and Olivia Newton-John have been evacuated, and there are many more celebs in the Malibu area whose homes are in danger. Numerous homes along Pacific Coast Highway have been evacuated.

The Malibu County and Carbon Beach residents include: Jennifer Aniston, Sting, Bill Murray, Nick Nolte, Robin Wright Penn, Mel Brooks, Tatum O'Neal, Rob Reiner, Goldie Hawn, Linda Ronstadt, Jeff Bridges, David Arquette and Courteney Cox, David Geffen, Jeffrey Katzenberg,Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson.

The fire is believed to have started when arcing power lines, downed by fierce Santa Ana winds, ignited dry brush around 5:00 AM Sunday. California has had one of the worst droughts in years, leaving hillsides especially vulnerable to brushfires. Over 1000 acres and numerous structures have already burned. More than 500 firefighters from all over the area are fighting the flames -- still being fanned by gusting winds, which are expected to continue for several days. Roughly 200 homes have been evacuated.

UPDATE: Sources on the scene tell TMZ that homes belonging to Mark Hamill, Sean Penn and David Duchovny are all in danger.

The below gallery shows the Polaroid House this past summer. The nearby LG house sustained fire damage.

FIRST NEW ORLEANS NOW JEN'S HOUSE!!! WHEN WILL IT HORROR STOP???

OK, I tried, I just can't seem to muster any sympathy for self indulgent, self important people who for the most part could replace these homes out of their next check. Besides, these are second and third homes, it's not as if they are "homeless". There, I tried again, still can't raise a tear, sorry. Barring any loss of life, LET THE WHOLE DAMN AREA BURN, IT WILL BE GOOD FOR THE VIEWS(THE NEIGHBORS WILL LIKE THAT) AND THE LAND WILL GET A BREATHER...

Arcing power lines started the Malibu fire?????? DUH! Did any wealthy resident in Malibu ever think it might be a good idea to dig trenches and put all the power lines underground?

These people are FILTHY RICH. Im sure that if any of these celebrity homes burns down to the bone, they will get paid much more than what they are worth. Im sure that they all have insurance and soon will have a much better home than they have.
Do I feel sorrry for them??? Nope. They have HOUSES. Not HOMES.

Anyone who lives in that area are fools if they don't have some type of insurance that would cover their houses. I do feel for them. No one deserves to have their house burned to the ground.

Just because they are famous, and they can buy another home doesn't mean crap! It is still their home. If it were you would you be like, "oh well, I can buy another."
It is still a tramatic time, and would be very sad. Think of the loss. All the memories, pictures, possible family heirlooms...

Money is just money. It doesn't keep you from getting hurt, feeling pain, or being sad.

Most on here sound jealous of the clebrities. Like why do they flock together or they are filthy rich. They have to live where because you say so?? Losing your home and all your worldy possesions is no treat. These people have feelings as well as childhood pics and other important pieces of their lives. Just because they are celebs doesnt mean you should scold them for a disaster in their life. What have you done for this world. At least they entertain us All you did was whine piss and moan on the planet. The worse people on these boards are Political Obessevive cry babies and Jealous A holes

I was in SF visiting my grandmother in 1991 when we noticed terrible "storm clouds" suddenly appear over the Sunset District. We turned on the news to see Oakland (yet again) burning. IMy prayers to everyone in this wildfire's path.

Look at all of the ignorant posters that are JEALOUS of celebrities. They are people, you morons. And they DO have "homes", not just buildings to live in and children to evacuate and make sure that they feel safe. God Bless everyone in this fire's path...

The fires are awful. Rich or poor, it's horrible to loose your home. True, the rich can easily afford to rebuild without their lives being disrupted, which is not how it goes for the poor. And the rich do flock together, because they buy expensive homes in neighborhoods the rest of us can't afford. On a positive note, the fires will bring a wave of new construction to the area, which will generate revenue for businesses and help with the stalled housing economy.
