Lil' Wayne -- Big A-Hole

TMZ just spoke with Charles "Duke" Lineberry, Jr., the attorney for Mitchell Entertainment Group, who promoted the concert Lil' Wayne flaked on last night in North Carolina -- and this is what went down ...

The concert was promoted as a "Stop the Violence" event, inspired because of eight gang-related murders in the small community of Wilmington, NC. Lil' Wayne was the draw, with ministers and local celebrities taking the stage to speak out against violence.

They were expecting a crowd of around 3,000 people who had paid $40 for floor seats and $30 for balcony -- but only about 1,000 kids showed up. There were multiple reasons for the small crowd -- including Lil' Wayne's recent legal troubles -- and that the concert had been canceled for four weeks, then rescheduled, after MEG filed a breach of contract lawsuit.

As a result of the low turnout, Lil' Wayne, who had been paid a part of his fee up front, was now not going to receive a couple of thousand dollars. The rapper then sat backstage for around three hours waiting for a crowd to arrive.

When the crowd didn't grow, some of the 80 sheriffs and officers in attendance offered to raise the money themselves to get Wayne to perform! The extra dough couldn't be raised until Monday, which wasn't good enough for the rapper, who left without appearing.

Mitchell Entertainment Group -- who fought to make the concert happen and to have Lil' Wayne appear -- now has to deal with refunding tens of thousands of dollars to irate concertgoers.

16. PPl shouldn't waste anymore money on this guy. Boycotting is the way to go w/ these artists who think they are better than other people just because they have a little talent - if you can call it that!

18. he should have just donated his time and performed. if he was just sitting around backstage doing nothing...it wouldn't have hurt him to get on stage and do a few songs. it sounds like the concert was for a good cause..i never really liked lil wayne before..and now i like him even less. i bet he wastes more money in a night of club hopping and strip bars than the few thousand he might have been out. behavior like this is what gives the rap industry a bad name. his name is lil wayne for a reason..little brains..little talent..little common sense...little pecker.

21. Face it nobody in this redneck town wanted some "outsider" coming in to cause trouble so they violated his free speech and shut the concert down.

22. why are people saying he's ignorant? becuase he is a rapper? Lil Wayne is a psychology major at the univeristy of houston. He also has done extensive charity work in his hometown of new orleans after the hurricane. It's so interesting to read white peple preconcieved notions of what it means to be a rapper or a black artist in America.

23. I live in Wilmington where he chose not to perform and I think its horrible what he did, there has been a lot of gang violence around that school in the last few months including the school being shut down the week before because of a man with a gun spotted in the school, its really hard to see these things on the news and for someone to come here saying they want to help and then because they aren't getting paid what they thought they were just up and leave WTF he is wealthy enough to come for free and speak out on gang violence if its going to help youth....JMO

24. How could he be there and go home! When folks are waiting on you, and you leave them hanging when you COULD HAVE been there, that is just beyond rude. Katty biatches don't act like that! Who the heck is he, "if they ain't enough people, I'm gone!". You are not going to get more people at your show like that!! Lil' Wayne is a Big Pain! I have never heard of him before, so his britches are definately bigger than he is!

Hey A-hole. White people are not the only ones posting negative comments so quit with the bull-t racist comment directed to whites only. As for whats-his-name, it was a charity event. He was there anyway. Why not do the concert and work out the details later. Hell, even the cops were willing to chip in to make it all work out. The least he could have done is perform, but his ego got in the way. I do find it quite humourous that they got a performer with a rap sheet to do a charity event called "Stop the Violence". Kinda defeats the perpose, don't ya think.

28. Well what do u expect just like one of the other folks said "NO TALENT RAPPER" who does not deserve the stage or spotlight to begin with they were better off spending their hard earned dollars on real talent like Jay Z who is a man who would have drawn a real crowd and honored the business agreement. That was a total waste of time i'm sorry that had to happen to those kids.

29. #24-Christopher, I have worked many late hours and weekends, simply because I loved my job and didn't want to get behind. It's not all about the benjamins, but about taking pride in yourself and your job. BTW, my job wasn't a charity event.

Check out Lil' Wayne's (names like this make you look ignorant) tatooed neck...it says 'Blessed'-what religion is this guy following?

Posted at 8:14PM on Oct 22nd 2007 by no name talent
