Lil' Wayne -- Big A-Hole

TMZ just spoke with Charles "Duke" Lineberry, Jr., the attorney for Mitchell Entertainment Group, who promoted the concert Lil' Wayne flaked on last night in North Carolina -- and this is what went down ...

The concert was promoted as a "Stop the Violence" event, inspired because of eight gang-related murders in the small community of Wilmington, NC. Lil' Wayne was the draw, with ministers and local celebrities taking the stage to speak out against violence.

They were expecting a crowd of around 3,000 people who had paid $40 for floor seats and $30 for balcony -- but only about 1,000 kids showed up. There were multiple reasons for the small crowd -- including Lil' Wayne's recent legal troubles -- and that the concert had been canceled for four weeks, then rescheduled, after MEG filed a breach of contract lawsuit.

As a result of the low turnout, Lil' Wayne, who had been paid a part of his fee up front, was now not going to receive a couple of thousand dollars. The rapper then sat backstage for around three hours waiting for a crowd to arrive.

When the crowd didn't grow, some of the 80 sheriffs and officers in attendance offered to raise the money themselves to get Wayne to perform! The extra dough couldn't be raised until Monday, which wasn't good enough for the rapper, who left without appearing.

Mitchell Entertainment Group -- who fought to make the concert happen and to have Lil' Wayne appear -- now has to deal with refunding tens of thousands of dollars to irate concertgoers.

46. I don't agree w/ deborah. These musicians make a lot of money and a bit of money that they dont get won't harm them. It's sad that money is a big deal to him instead of doing something for young people that looks up to him. If it werent for some of them he wouldn't be where he is. I think the heading describes him perfectly...i would probably throw a little extra word in there.

Look at that photo, like he is so tough surrounded by security people night and day, what punks these guys are, They make me sick
Stop the violence if the money is right?.
Maybe do half the show for the cause if the money was not there.

All young people need to rid the music industry of trash.
The have lived large long enough on your dime.

Don't be so childish, TMZ liking Rap or not is not the question here.
Go ahead and turn it into a black thing for further silliness.
Idiots trying to justify this garbage. Not all rap is bad, but he is! and he represents what?
If you want that changed change it! don't justify it.

"The press only tells you what it wants you to know"

That may have been true 10 years ago but they can't do that anymore. There are too many source's for us to check and double check now. Bloggers who were there to hear from and so on.

Perhaps that saying should be " we only see what we want to see " instead.

He was there for 3 hours, That is correct and he did not perform period. No excuses, No because he is black and into rap we must defend him!
it's not TMZ or any other persons fault the guy was arrested and or decided NOT to perform. He is accountable!.

Personally I think he did them all a favor, but that's just my opnion.

50. I understand what Deb is saying and would agree with her if it wasn't a charity event. He got lucky when he got signed if not for luck he'd probably be on the streets and creating violence. He should've done it to give back!

58. I first of all don't understand why Lil' Wayne was chosen to host a Stop the Violence charity event in the first place. He looks and behaves like a gang member and still raps about money, guns and drugs. His latest being a song glorifying "duffle bag boys". (Duffle bag as in for the drug money)

Secondly, not understanding how you're so allegedly rich demanding to be paid for a charity event for children in the first place. Key word... CHARITY!

Had he not gotten arrested the other day, more people may have shown up!

Get your life together and btw, stay in your place. You're not in Jay-Z's league. He never would have done such a thing.
