Lil' Wayne -- Big A-Hole

TMZ just spoke with Charles "Duke" Lineberry, Jr., the attorney for Mitchell Entertainment Group, who promoted the concert Lil' Wayne flaked on last night in North Carolina -- and this is what went down ...

The concert was promoted as a "Stop the Violence" event, inspired because of eight gang-related murders in the small community of Wilmington, NC. Lil' Wayne was the draw, with ministers and local celebrities taking the stage to speak out against violence.

They were expecting a crowd of around 3,000 people who had paid $40 for floor seats and $30 for balcony -- but only about 1,000 kids showed up. There were multiple reasons for the small crowd -- including Lil' Wayne's recent legal troubles -- and that the concert had been canceled for four weeks, then rescheduled, after MEG filed a breach of contract lawsuit.

As a result of the low turnout, Lil' Wayne, who had been paid a part of his fee up front, was now not going to receive a couple of thousand dollars. The rapper then sat backstage for around three hours waiting for a crowd to arrive.

When the crowd didn't grow, some of the 80 sheriffs and officers in attendance offered to raise the money themselves to get Wayne to perform! The extra dough couldn't be raised until Monday, which wasn't good enough for the rapper, who left without appearing.

Mitchell Entertainment Group -- who fought to make the concert happen and to have Lil' Wayne appear -- now has to deal with refunding tens of thousands of dollars to irate concertgoers.

77. IN RESPONSE TO :
The Rap industry needs to clean up its act. Get rid off all the bling bling, grotest lyrics (if you want to call it lyrics), and put some clothes on the women and rap about something positive instead of how much money is in the bank, how big the rims are, and how many women you've banged! GET A CLUE!

You could say that the ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY shoudl clean its act up. Get rid of all the grotest lyrics, and put some clothes on the women and talk about something postitive insteade of how much money is in the bank. This is rampid in the whole industry from T.V., magazines, and music. Alot of people always wanna complain about hip hop as if Britney and Christina aren't prancing around half ass naked and that they have lyrical content that is some how helping spread great news and encouraging words. And the fact that some people don't even know who he is and still hate him just shows whats wrong with America right now! Lets fix some of the problems that plague all of us as a whole and not just put a certain genre down b/c of a couple of artists that are a member of this group. Of course you have artist like Common, KRS-1, Talib, and Lupa Fiasco who don't do these things, aren't getting arrested, and speak about social changes in the black community. So stop sterotyping something you know nothing about, some people just take the stories that TMZ prints and acts like its the hard truth. DONT YOU EVER WONDER WHY YOU NEVER HEAR STORIES ABOUT THE POSITIVE THINGS RAPPERS DO, YOU MUST KNOW THAT THEY DO POSTIVE THINGS..RIGHT? YOU DON'T HEAR ABOUT IT CAUSE THAT DOES MAKE GREAT HEADLINES AND DOESNT FURTHER PERPERTUATE THE STEROTYPES THAT SO MUCH OF THE MAIN STREAM WHITE MEDIA BELIEVES IS CONDUSIVE OF ALL BLACK PEOPLE.

78. Thanks for all your comments that I am racist.. I grew up in Alexandria, VA. Moved to Omaha, NE for a while and I now reside in Los Angeles.. I know what racism really is, if you really want to get in to that, I can give you multiple situations where someone Caucasian disrespected me soley because of my race. I am just stating how I feel. Just cause you people are closet racists' doesnt really make any difference whatsoever. And to the person who said why should "we" defend it... I dont even listen to a lot of Lil Wayne's music. The things I said are because of some of the pigs that come to this site. Dont be upset when someone else doesnt like your race. Because frankly my dears, I dont give a good goddamn. I am going to tell it like it is FOR REAL. No one else is sugar coating their comments, they just arent as bold as me. Smooches

79. Wayne should have performed. He is a musician with fans. I've worked with a lot of different artists, many of whom were not paid at all. They continued to play because they wanted to please their fans and get their music out. While wayne's out here trying to solidify his place as the greatest rapper of all-time, that requires some services being rendered for less than expected.

Also, bashing hp-hop is so passé. When you come up with a complain that the whole community of hip-hop doesn't already recognize, get back to me and we can have some real talk.

81. This does not surprise me. First of all, the city of Wilmington should really check into getting some real talent to support the non-violence movement. LiL Wayne is an undeducated, little boy who is in need of help himself. I would not want my child to be entertained by him or anyone else that behaves in such a way. If we have resulted to getting help from the likes of Lil Wayne, we are in more trouble than I thought.

85. In resonse to LL, obivously you don't know who the hell Lil Wayne is cause if you did you would know that aside from him being a rapper he is also a psychology major at the University of Houston, and has been on the Honor Roll since he's been there. Damn can you go read up on something before you comment, its not that hard....I PROMISE!

86. I knew this was a bad idea from the start. First the school board canelled the concert, then upon a threat of a lawsuit of discrimination due to him being black, they deceided not to cancel it after all. Why would they bring a thug into a school to perform? To satisfy both races!! Nobody else will say it, but I will. When you live in the south you have the constant threat of te NAACP on your back, and the good ol REV SHARPTON can be called in an instant. So this isn't about the negative affect this music has on our children, or the violence that could have occured if large crowds of gang members gathered, or even the awful lyrics he "sings", no in the south it goes much deeper, but nobody wants to talk about it for fear of being called a racist. Well I am not one, but this is the truth. Take it or ignore it!!

87. Who gives a f*** about lil wayne... What I am concerned about is how Wilmington was called a "small community". Wilmington is a small CITY. Beachfront, large ports, home to many celebrities. Television shows are filmed there and Hollywood Blockbusters are as well. As we speak Harrison Ford calls Wilmington home as he shoots his latest movie there! K-Fed travels regularly (lucky to wilmington...NOT) to film One Tree Hill there also. Michael Jordan lives there. First you rag on AppState and now you call Wilmington small. Get it together TMZ. North Carolina kicks ass!!!!
