Celeb Sisters' Wildfire Rescue

10/27/2007 2:43 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Shane and Sia Barbi, aka the Barbi Twins, are helping spread the word that there weren't only people displaced by the wildfires that swept through Southern California this week -- there were pets, too.
Barbi Twins
On their website, www.thekittyliberationfront.org, the sisters have posted the contact information for dozens of animal shelters all across the area, as well as phone numbers for various VCA Animal Hospitals -- all of which are "no-kill" organizations. The cat in the above photo is actually a brown tabby the sisters found after the fire -- with no chip and no collar. All together now, "Awwwwwwww."

The models-turned-animal activists are coordinating some rescue efforts, calling for volunteers and the fostering of injured or lost animals. They are even working on a fundraiser tentatively scheduled for December 22. Shane tells TMZ, "People love animals like their family."

Check out their site for information on how you can help.

There exists the type of people, who think the animals we share this planet with don't matter. I know this, so some of the comments are not surprising; but are still sickening. I wonder where it really stops w/ them? Arrogance & ignorance are a dangerous combo; along with coldness & cruelty, no doubt their twisted attitudes spill over among the human species as well -- whether that be racially motivated, demeaning women, abusing kids, etc, that we see in life/news, displayed by these knuckle-draggers. We are supposed to be stewards of this world, not destroyers. It's wonderful the majority of posts are positive; & some of them well addressed the nasty, apathetic losers who just had to rear their ugly heads (don't have to see u, to know your soul is rotten).. I'd like to BUMP a few of these comments, as they were spot on:

-- A society is judged by how well it treats its least fortunate and its animals.
by KindAndThoughtful

--Nice to see that these two are helping out with the animals.
Not surprising to see negative remarks here though. IMO, some people seem to have sad, miserable, pathetic lives posting anything and everything negative in regards to this story. by Noodles

-- Hey Mark (one of the ahole posters) ...'grunt, strain'.....there, I just replaced you with a 'poopy', so that was pretty easy. People can also look out for themselves, but animals can't. They're with them because WE choose to have them, so it's up to us to take care of them. It's great whoever these chicks are that, at least, they're doing SOMEthing.....we're all on here making comments, albeit not nearly as ignorant as yours. by TonyD

There were others too, thanks to everyone who stood up to these idiots. And to all who acknowledged the Barbi sisters' efforts. Who cares if they've had any cosmetic work done (to those who made related PETTY remarks)? Not only do they look pretty damn good, more importantly, they're BEAUTIFUL on the inside. Thank u for your caring spirit.

Helping animals is nice, but it doesn't make people automatic saints, or immunize them against all criticism.

These women are very delusional about their level of attractiveness, as some other posters have pointed out. They put themselves in the public eye, and that means the public will comment, whether you like what they say or not.

They have had some horrifying plastic surgery. I hope they don't get any more.

Yeah, they look fake and gross---but WHY IS ANYONE SITTING HERE OBSESSING OVER THEIR LOOKS when the girls are only drumming up support for a good cause? What they're doing is great so please get past their lips and surgery and try to be intelligent human, dimensional human beings. Thank you.

Private no kill shelters are not all that they are cracked up to be. A lot of places throw that name around; but what it really means is that they refuse to accept animals that they can't adopt out. By only accepting animals that they can place, they avoid responsibility for those which they can't. How convenient.
Your local aspca accepts all animals, those which are deemed by veterinarians as unfit to be pets will be euthenized, what option would you suggest?

It has been a long time since I heard anything about the Barbi twins.

After they became famous for their plastic surgery, they vanished into thin air.

California fire has put them into spotlight again for saving kitty's (not human beings). How smart.

They are worried about pets who were displaced by fire and NOT human beings!!!

As you said in the story, "The models-turned-animal activists are coordinating some rescue efforts, calling for volunteers and the fostering of injured or lost animals."

Who needs human beings? What for?

'ELLEN DUMPED MY DOG, TOO'
October 22, 2007 -- ELLEN DeGeneres' latest doggy dealing wasn't the first time she'd passed along a pup she'd adopted, says a Los Angeles producer who gave the talk-show queen a pooch she quickly got rid of.

Kerri Randles says she gave DeGeneres a male mutt named Stormy two years ago, only to find out less than two months later that fickle Ellen had re-gifted him to a member of her staff.

"She may have had it for much less time than that. I only say two months because that's when I called to check on the dog and found out she no longer had it," Randles said. "I was totally shocked. I thought she was out of her mind."

DeGeneres may have passed along several other dogs over the years. Howard Stern said on his Sirius show that he'd heard she had done this nine times before.

Viewers were shocked Tuesday when DeGeneres tearfully told her viewers that the Mutts & Moms agency had gone to her hairdresser's house and confiscated the dog Ellen had adopted from the stylist. Mutts & Moms said she had signed a contract agreeing to return the dog only to the agency if she no longer wanted to care for it.

Randles said DeGeneres seemed a perfect pet owner at first, but she quickly discovered the daytime TV hostess was "neurotic and crazy."

When Randles took Stormy to NBC studios to meet DeGeneres, she was "drilled" for four hours by the star, her assistants and the crew.

"Everyone on the show and in her entourage got themselves all involved," Randles told Page Six's Marianne Garvey. "They were all coming into the dressing room, playing with the dog as if it were a new extension of Ellen."

DeGeneres finally decided to keep the dog for a few nights to see if he'd fit into her home. She suggested that Randles take the dressing room next door to "tell the dog privately that she'd be going home with Ellen."

"I told her I'd already had a talk with the dog. She didn't get my jokes," said Randles.

When she called to check on the pup a few days later, DeGeneres told her she'd decided to keep it. "She acted like she was keeping it for life," Randles recalled.

DeGeneres' rep did not return our calls.
