Dr. Adams Eats His Words

Dr. Jan Adams once hosted a show called "The Other Half" -- where he talked about how things never go wrong immediately following surgery, but instead weeks and months after. Oops.

As we all now know, Kanye West's mother, Dr. Donda West, died a day after going under Adams' knife for a tummy tuck and breast reduction.

4. This is an unfortunate example of people "doctor shopping". She was rejected by one
plastic surgeon because of health risks. So, why didn't she just stop there? If she was
such a risk, then why didn't they put her in a surgery after-care center, or even admit
her to the hospital? Both those procedures (breast reduction and tummy tuck) are
lenghty and dangerous procedures. What was that dumb-ass Doctor Adams thinking? Even Dr Robert Rey (Dr 90210) has enough sense to REJECT certain patients. I guess
he just could not resist the allmighty dollar. Look where greed got him now. I hope Kanye
sues his ass. He acts like he has a large object stuck up his ass anyway, probably
Kanyes foot!

5. So Idiot #2 (Wicked): Is Dr. Oz good looking? Stop hating on Oprah. Just because she worked her butt off for years and became mega rich and you didn't is not her fault. You can learn from her.

6. #4 I agree with your commentary 100%. This is a dangerous procedure however not always ends with death. I still don't understand why Donda West had to have this procedure? Good under garments would have solved her problem

7. He was never certified.

He was never "board certified". (board certified in the field of plastic surgery)

And he never started out in the field of plastic surgery. He crossed over from some other medical field because he thought he knew what he was doing . . . he didn't and now it's going to cost him a lot more!!

ALWAYS MAKE SURE YOUR DOCTORS STARTED OUT IN THEIR FIELDS AND DIDN'T CROSS OVER FROM SOME OTHER MEDICINE FIELD LIKE DENTISTRY OR SOME OTHER AREA!!!

8. I am so sad of news of kayne's Mom...may she be in Heaven and in God's arms.
This Doctor has NO chance, even if he did noting wrong. I would leave the country ASAP! My prayers to Kaynae and family...she was taken way too young. Screw Hollywood and the need to look PERFECT!

10. It's irresponsible of Oprah to have a doctor like this on her show who is NOT board certified. If she wanted to have an African American plastic surgeon on her show, I'm sure there's plenty out there who have all the certifications and do fabulous work. This guy is a hot dog and nothing more.

14. some idiot wrote

"ALWAYS MAKE SURE YOUR DOCTORS STARTED OUT IN THEIR FIELDS AND DIDN'T CROSS OVER FROM SOME OTHER MEDICINE FIELD LIKE DENTISTRY OR SOME OTHER AREA!!!"
...

sorry, your an idiot...ALL medical students start off in the same course, (in laymens terms it's like basic training in the army - ) ..they later choose their specific course.. eg dentistry, orthopedic surgeon, ears nose & throat or a regular GP....

You can't just 'change' over to another field and start practicing... and while ALL of the fore mentioned doctors could ALL do a 'basic' medical procedure in a field other than their own (in a emergency) ... they cannot just start operating in a field other than their own. A orthopedic surgeon can't just decide to start offering root canal therapy to his patients.

IF a medical student enrolled in a specific field wants to swaps to another field of med - he would start in that field from scratch... He would only skip sections of the course if they relate to all fields of medicine and he has (previously) completed them ..

Your comments are extremely confusing and very ignorant...

are you suggesting that the students who gain a degree in nursing and then change to medicine are somehow inferior to some kid fresh out of school who goes straight to pre -med??? ARE YOU KIDDING???. GIVE ME THE NURSE ANY DAY!!!

IF ANYTHING having more experience in as many different field of medicine can ONLY MAKE YOU A BETTER STUDENT OF MEDICINE....

AND I STRESS 'STUDENT'..AS A GOOD DOCTOR NEVER STOPS LEARNING!! they never stop taking course's and learning NEW skills and techniques.

Please take note that when choosing a doctor 1. make sure he/she is certified and meet all the standards required in your state/country...

BUT

secondly and (just as importantly) see how up to date they are with technical side of their field...Just like computers, medicine moves very fast... and a style of procedure which was the standard 5 yrs ago, could be considered dangerous today!!!!

****V.I.P don't choose a who gave up his studies when he left college*************

15. I also agree with Ellen comments re: doctor shopping... while you should always get a second (even 3rd or 4th if concerned ) opinion ..their is normally a GOOD reason why a doctor won't operate on you.

I would gravely reconsider any 'elective' surgery which could cause serious complications. Many people get very insulted by a doctor who won't operate on them ...yet these are very doctors who are putting you Ahead of their paycheck...

I would would be very concerned if a doctor happily accepts to operate on you after another has knocked back the operation on medical grounds.

In any operation, anything unexpected can happen, but a good doctor will tell all his patients the general risk's involved in any operation.. (yes, thats right, you 'could' die in any operation)
... In most elective surgery the risk's of dying are extremely rare if the patient is a healthy candidate.

BUT

If a certain surgeon won't operate due to a risk regarding a specific patient - the patient in question would be VERY FOOLISH to go looking for a surgeon who will.

In Kanye west mother's case, the risk of heart attack - should have a been a MASSIVE FLASHING SIREN TO her and the willing SURGEON ...

while its elective it's still Surgery !!!
