Will Smith -- Hitler, Schmitler; He Wasn't That Bad

1111. In my opinion, the statement was taken out of context. Perhaps, in his own warped mind, Hitler did think he was saving the world; he however, psychotic he may have been was entitled to his own perception and viewpoint. That was the underlying content that Will Smith was attempting to make. He in Hitler, like many pscho/sociopaths in their own delusion minds, they feel that their actions are appropriate. They do not feel remorse or empathy. If the truth be written accurately, could future generations not say the same about President Bush, Saddam, Bin Laden, Idi Amin?? I'm sure each of these individuals didn't just decide one day to forget what it means to love and care about humanity, somewhere along the way, their perceptions became distorted. The reality became warped and their way of cognitively processing life became twisted. They themselves were became mentally impaired/disturbed. That is what Will Smith meant by the comment. It's sad that the media will distort the simplest statement to futher their personal quest for SENSATIONALISM. More so it is very unfortunate that innocent people both the speaker and the listener can be deeply and emotionally hurt by their stupidity. If anyone is to blame and suffer backlash, it should be focused upon the journalist not Will. Keep it real people. Stop being used by the media to further their cause. Listen, Think, Investigate and Evaluation before blowing up.

1116. Doesn't Will Smith have the right to his opinion? Regardless of what it is, which can't be made clear by his statement, the beauty of this country is that we can have those opinions. That's our right here, and as distasteful at an opinion can be, the one thing that any dictator (Hitler, Saddam, etc) tried to suppress, was individual thought, free speech and the right to express that. I'm Jewish and I don't think that Will Smith's comments were anti-semitic or pro-Hitler. I think his point was that Hitler didn't think of himself as an evil human being or that what he was doing was wrong. I would actually agree with that point, I'm sure that Hitler thought he was doing a good thing...and while he was definitely WRONG...I don't think that anyone really gets up in the morning and thinks to themselves, "I'm going to do something really wrong and evil today...just because."

1117. Calm down, people! He didn't say that HE thought Hitler wasn't evil, he clearly meant that he didn't think Hitler thought of himself as evil! Hitler DID think what he was doing was right. I'm not a huge Will Smith fan but that's it's so obvious what he meant, people are twisting it into something else.

1120. that's probably true, which doesn't mean that the holocaust was any less terrible than it was. all it's saying is that he was crazy, kinda like our current leaders. when people call crazy people "evil," they make it OK to accept that terrible things will always happen, instead of just recognizing, treating (and impeaching) the crazy in power.

1121. The Jewish Defense League needs to learn about human rights. Wanting theaters to pull Will's flick flim from their screens would be understandable if Will had made an anti-Jewish sentiments since it would have been discrimination towards the jewish community but he didn't. Even though it's disturbing that there might be people who feel that Hitler wasn't a bad person, there's no rule or law that says that everyone has to hate him or see him as the evil monster that he was.

1124. What is everyone pissed off about? You don't agree that it was "twisted and backwards logic?" You think Hitler sat there going "I'm an evil man. What I'm doing is wrong. I should stop. But I won't." Will made a good point. Children are in no way evil, and Hitler believe it or not, was a child once. So there was a time when he wasn't a bad person. But the beliefs he was instilled with and what ever mental unbalance he developed turned him into a bad adult. What he did was horrendous, but I betcha he didn't see it that way.
