9. A Scottish tartan is a traditional measurement and documented officially by size and color where as a plaid is any color and any size and not traditional. The runways have a always butchered Scottish tartans into plaids. BTW Tartans are far more expensive than plaids and cheaper to produce.

12. Tartan and plaid are not the same TMZ. One is traditional while the other is a cheaper knock off.
