Martha's Dead Dog: It's a Good Thing?

Martha Stewart can make a beautiful occasion out of any dinner party, wedding, even a stock trade gone bad -- but the carcass of your dead dog?!

The ex-con media mogul's nearly 13-year-old dog, Paw Paw, died of renal failure on Saturday and she's posted a creepy pic on her blog of the expired pup -- entombed in a sheet with an adorable little bow wrapped around him. Death is pretty!

Just imagine what Martha could do with your Aunt Sally's cremated remains?!

47. TMZ get rid of the sick header! You're worse than she is.

48. I buried my pet this past weekend. We had 18 years of companionship, with me learning from a chronically sick animal how to have courage, humor and patience. It is not cute or funny to make fun of other people (or animals) pain. I suspect that these people who haunt the internet to spew their anger and hate are pitifully void of having a good life. Maybe they should get a pet and learn how to live. As for the dogs sniffing their "brother" it's how they learn where he's gone; as far as it being on her blog, it was probably not a good choice since the internet is so democratic even lowlife types can participate and make fun of everyone and everything they don't understand. I suspect that Martha is just naive and thought she could share how she handled her pet's death. I think you should make the hate mongers tell about their lives so they can be held up to criticism. Probably just a photo of them at their computers with their pj's, dirty hair and unbrushed teeth would tell a lot. And lastly, I hated your title to this; it was a cheap shot. She's much more than an "ex-con" and she even did that very well! Jordan

49. My heart breaks for her. It is hard when you lose a pet that you've had that long.

And for those of you questioning why she is letting the other dogs sniff it, it is so they know what is in there. They can smell their friend. Animals grieve, too.

People shouldn't be so cruel. Everyone experiences loss at some point and you should show some compassion for Martha.

50. My goodness, Kelli - first you slam Miss Martha, then you do a quick mea culpa, then you slam everyone who finds this story charming and heartwarming! Yes, tmz is my site of choice for the latest gossip, but the occasionally heart warming story is nice too. You sound so bitter honey - were your feeling hurt by some of the people who challenged you today? If so, I'm sorry. I hope you can recognize that snarky comments don't make your life any better.

I have owned many dogs throughout my life and each time one has passed it has been a heartbreaking, and heart expanding, experience. Kelli, you say that you have owned and lost pets too - so why the vitriole against someone who experienced the same thing as you? Please don't let it be b/c Martha is wealthy and you don't "approve!" I admire the comments from the Martha supporters who just want to wish her well and share their own experiences. Kelli, please find it in your heart to let go of your anger and share in this friendly community, or just accept that you cannot find it within yourself to be nice sometimes.

51. The other dogs are doing what happens in nature. Their companion is gone, and whatever their senses of smell tell them happened is probably better than suddenly having the other dog go missing. Who knows what really goes on, but I'd guess that to her other dogs, it's a form of closure.
At least she's not making a wall hanging out of it.

52. I never liked Martha Stewart in the past but since her stint in the big house she has truly become someone that I enjoy watching everyday on her television show. Those few months away seem to have had a positive effect on her. Her ability to relate to the everyday person (and not just the priveledged few who are fortunate enough to travel in her circle) have made her seem more down-to-earth, sincere and funny!!! Who knew that Martha Stewart had a sense of humor and could even laugh at herself.
In the past she always came across as a snobby tyrant that ruled her staff with a golden fist!!! Her staff in those days seemed to be intimidated by her and literally walked on pins and needles for fear that they would set her off. And you could see this on their faces as they tried to go about doing their jobs but it made for horrible television. I refused to watch her show back in those days...it was painful to even try to watch those poor employees and her in all her glory.
But now she is so different she is even willing to open up and share something so personal and so painful as the death of her beloved Paw Paw. Her pets are a part of her family just like mine are a part of my family. I think the way she chose to pay her respects to Paw Paw was not only beautiful but very touching from start to finish and it was done with simple elegance......
Way to go Martha! I am so proud of you for holding your head high and coming back even better than ever. So many wanted you to fail but you had the last laugh Martha!
REST IN PEACE PAW PAW!!!

53. Katie, bite me. I do not have to explain my feelings and you know nothing about me. Try to sound a little less condecending. I have a right to post my comments just like you. I find it amusing today to see people challenging me. I'm lmao! Have a great day Katie.

54. How wonderful that someone as brilliant and successful as Martha Stewart has not lost perspective on the most important things in life. Her sensitivity is to be admired.

55. How very sad for Martha. She really loved that dog. I can imagine how she feels ... I lost my cat after having it for 20 years and one day!!

56. Lucy, you brought a tear to my eye. It is very hard to loose a beloved pet. See nothing wrong with Martha.

57. Everyone has a right to bury their dog, family, whoever the way they want to and fell from the heart. This is her way and I respect that. I think cremation for a person is something like being in the Holocaust but to each their own and I respect everyones way to go.
Sorry for your loss Martha. Thanks for sharing.

58. Kelli ~ Put your head out of your a*s, quit licking yourself long enough to bite your own self. What a heartless, ugly soul. I'm sure after 20 years of putting up with you your pets were happy to finally be done with you and able to get their just deserved peace and rest. I'm sure they were plotting for the last 19 1/2 years of what they'll be in their next life and how they can get even with you. Karma.... You know how it goes.

60. I see nothing wrong with what she did. You go girl! My dogs are family to me. When mine have passed away, we wrap them in their favorite blankie with their favorite toy and bury them like that. Our vet also recommended letting the other dogs see and sniff the one who passed, so that they can understand better why their buddy isn't around anymore. Martha's got the right idea, and did it classy.
