He was much too original for the show - and he wouldn't stoop to become an AI puppet. I though it was brilliant the way he went out on a rebellious note! That he got as far as he did is a testament to his huge fanbase. I will not watch the show anymore. All they want is the pop or country cookie-cutter drone. Jason, I am a fan for life.
I would truly like to know how some of you stupid people that are tearing this boy apart can look in the mirror in the morning. Give the kid a break. You DO NOT know that he is a pot head. You only assume that. You know what assume means.
He has a lovely voice. Period. He is a nice looking young man. Period. He may or may not be happy that his tour of duty on AI is over. His business.
As the judges have said. It is what it is. End of story. I know I enjoyed the ride. Now the show holds no interest at all for me. Most happy that Jason was there for as long as he was. Period.
Hey, I appreciate a metaphor as much as the next person, but "trainwreck"? Try "roadkill", for the way the TPTB achieved their dream finale (David/David) by running over Jason, backing up and hitting him again. No one deserved the treatment he got, and no apology. Remember, of the final 6 (at least) Jason was the only one who was truly "undiscovered". No previous recording contract, no vocal coach, no stage parents. Did his inexperience show? Absolutely! And, of course he wanted to go home: they all do! But, guess what? He won't be going home until after the tour. So, for those who think he set himself up, think again.

The âIdolâ finalists
There are only three contestants remaining on âAmerican Idolâ after Jason Castro's ouster.

On Wednesday, in response to a caller question about the contestantsâ most challenging experience on âIdol,â Castro answered âUhhh ⦠the brain being dead.â Later, as he stood onstage in the bottom two with Syesha Mercado, he quipped âSomebody told me that I shot the Tambourine Man yesterday. I thought that was pretty funny.â
But he also said that he had followed Simon Cowellâs advice and packed his suitcase. He was ready to go, and the viewers kindly sent him on his way." From the following website: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24511052/from/ET/
So glad he's gone. I LOVED the "Paper or Plastic???" comment above. Let me add to that one: "Would you like fries with that?"
It amazes me that no one has noticed that this guy could be a Tiny Tim clone! He should have sung Tiptoe through the Tulips last week!
Those of you who think Jason wanted to leave the show, from what I understand, he didn't WANT to go. He WANTED to win, he was just stressed out..and who wouldn't be after going through everything the idols have to go through. He never said "don't vote"...you just mistook it for that. He said "vote, vote." I can only imagine that being insanely busy and being shut off from real life and your family would be really tough to do. I think Jason should go back home, go back to school and play some Dallas gigs..I would hate to see oober fame get to his awesome personality...because he seems wonderful.
jason was absolutely amazing, and even though he messed the lyric up a little you have to admit that song sounded freaking awesome. ive loved jason since the first show and i still love him. Im upset he left but i know he will be so much more successful this way. He will always love him and his music
