Lakers Crowd, Dimmed Wits

It's lookin' like the Lakers played their home game last night at Villa.
Lakers
During the radio play-by-play, the announcer was wondering out loud ... why no energy in the crowd? Maybe because it looked like a gigantic power outage.

Between the crazy lighting and the fact the place is filled with celebs, it's easy to see how fans might have mistaken last night's basketball game for an L.A. club.

The Lakers went dark this season so fans would focus more on the action and less on "Oh my God, there's Tobey Maguire!" And there's the whole green thing.

1. where's waldo!?

2. Like all LA teams, the Lakers suck and no team in LA has real fans. You go to a Dodger game, people show up in the third to leave in the seventh. The LA Kings are in the NHL, which doesn't even exist as most people are concerned. Then there is the whole no NFL team, which is a complete embarrassment. One of the most influential and big cities in the world doesn't have the biggest sport for over a decade. Then we have a Laker team with a "star" who cheats on his psycho wife, rapes woman and gets away with it and is an all around a**hole. So the NBA gives him the MVP award and treats him like a god. Good role model. To grow up like a prick is the dream, give me a break. So enjoy your victory and be thankful that the Celtics didn't show up, because once they decide to the series will be over.

3. Name ONE enormous lake in L.A. besides Ricki?

INAPPROPRIATELY NAMED SPORTS TEAMS! -- L.A.'s sooo one of them.

4. Wow Rick Roll's one bitter dude. I think the lighting is dope. It's no different than MSG in NYC or the old Forum in Inglewood. People don't realize that LAKER home games start at 6pm when most are rushing from work. In the east the games don't begin until 9pm and by tip-off their fans are drunk and rowdy. Plus, who cares who's in the stands.

5. Actrually this is the second season that the lights have been off. It gives a totally different feel to the game because all the focus is on the game.

7. Nothing pisses me off more than being forced to watch celebrities enjoying themselves at sporting events that I can't get into. Especially when you know they probably don't even care about the event. It's all about being seen.

8. lol the lakers arent the most inappropriately named team around! the newest owner of the California Angels renamed the teamed a few years back to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Nevermind that the team plays in Orange County a good hour away from Los Angeles on a good traffic day. On regular days it takes two hours to get to LA. So now our team is The Angels Angels after Los Angeles is translated to english! It defiently makes the team the dumbest named team in sports!

9. RICK,

I'm sorry that YOUR team isn't playing cause they didn't have what it takes to be a winning team. I'm sorry that you think Lakers suck..I'm sorry you are bitter about organized sports in general and I'm sorry you think LA is a crappy sports town.

FINALLY...

You have no clue what you are saying in regards to Kobe's personal life. He admitted to having an AFFAIR with another woman. That was the issue..NOT RAPE! And Kobe is one of the greatest players to EVER play the game and arguably the best player playing now. He's MVP of the NBA. If awards were given out for perforances off the court, then there would be very few given out.

Do me a favor...pack your bags and leave LA.

10. The Lakers originally came from Minnesota, which is full of lakes. Lights out sucks when your trying to distract the opposing teams free throws.

11. damn #9 calm down..Kobe is obviously the biggest talent in the NBA but I dont think many people outside of LA are really fans of his. There just something about him that is not likeable.

12. i thought people were there to see the game and not celebrities....i personally like how its easier to keep your focus on the game and not what drunk LOSER lakers "fans" are around you

13. How can one be bitter when your telling the truth? The amount of "Real" fans in LA are slim at best, and those fans even would say that most of the other so-called fans are worthless and give them a bad name.

Plus when 1000's of people are late and leave early or lose interest in the team the second they are not winning and pay attention to there Nachos instead is embarrassing. That's a fact.

Whether its 6PM or any other time a game is being played, if you make arrangements to go to a game and are a fan, make it to the game and don't leave. People go to the game to be seen, and that is it.

I don't have to leave LA and pack my bags, I'll leave that to the Raiders, which LA keeps losing because the fans are worthless.

Kobe will never win a championship without Shaq or another superstar, he will never prove he is an elite player and win a title by himself. He's the Mike Vick of the NBA.

As for my team not playing, the last time I checked they were up 2 games to 1. You'll see the victory parade on SportsCenter next week, tune in.

Plus Chris Paul was the MVP this year, he is just not a household name since the NBA is rigged, just ask the refs. Give it to Kobe, thats the only title he'll have in his house this summer.

14. Having celebrities at a Laker game is part of Laker lore. Most other teams have no one. So that's just how we do it. Stop drinking that hatorade.

As Randy Newman says (sang) "I LOVE L.A.!"

15. H A T E R S !!!!!!!! Lakers are by far the BEST team in the NBA!! Quit your crying and b1tching just because your team is not in it. To post #1, YOU know that the refs were calling bad shots. Not on the Celtics, but the LAKERS!! Go over games 1 and 2 and then tell me the refs favor them. Kobe can carry any team to victory. In game 2 he brought his team down from 22 to 2. Can Chris Paul do that post #13. His personal life has nothing to do with his professional life. Get over it. What famouse athlete has been faithful to his wife. Besides that bald dude whose wife follows him everywhere and schedules his interviews with MEN!! Shaq has also cheated, just like Michael Jordan!
