317. Approximately 40,000 children died of hunger today. Who friggin' cares what some ad agency did to a celeb pic.

319. If the color of the money Beyonce cashed in from L'oreal is good - then color is not an issue. Also - the creative process is the choise and privilege of the photographer - color is a creative criteria not a racist criteria. Sue Andy Warhol for altering the color of Monroe & Campbell Soup images?.....lollllllllllllll

320. The comments by most of the pople on this board show how either naibe or ignorant they are. It is so obvious that L'Oreal lightned her skin and made her features look more Euorpean to appeal to white people because we all know, even if we don't want to admit it, white people DO treat lighter skinned non-whites better than they do darker skinned non-whites and tend not to be "threatened" by them in all aspects of life.

Beyonce has been a media and money whore even since Destiny's Child went mainstream in 1999, so I would not be surrpised if she OK'd this picture.

BTW, I believe any whtie person who tans, gets lip injections and/or butt injections are pathetic. These are the same people who run around saying whtie is right and blacks need to get back and are the first peices of trash to run to the tanning salon and/or plastic suergon.

321. raylo, I am dark skinned and believe me, I am in no way jealoous of Beyonce for this reason:

If dark skinned blacks are SO jealous of light skineed blacjks, then why are so many light skinned people (including white) spend so much money trying to look like dark skineed blacks? Some literally die just to look like a dark skinned person.

322. i think this ad was altered, and loreal had beyonce's concent. people do it all the time. why would someone not want to be portrayed as white? hollywood is so racist against people of color. we are underrepresented in movies and television shows, so there are moral choices to be made. personally, i wouldnt change myself to fit in! some models wear their natural hair (texture and all) and are proud of their dark skin, others hide it!

Tell my 75 year old mother to "get over" her school being burned down by white who didn't want blacks to get an education. And I'd like to see if you have the onions to tell her to her face to get over being subjected to Jim Crow because she was born "the wrong color" and I like to see how long you have the 32 teeth you have in your mouth, assuming you still have all 32.

325. This is what gets black people riled up. There has always been an issue between light skinned and dark skinned people. To this day it still exists. Our society tells us light skinned is better than dark skinned. This ignorant attitute runs deep and as a black person I can understand the frustration that others feel. We are not downing other races or anything but it's self hate among our own people that makes us angry. That is the issue. If Loreal did alter her face then what does that say. It says that she is not beautiful the way she is but if we alter you and lighten you up then you are beautiful. That is the issue that is making people angry. I am not bad mouthing Beyonce she is making her money and doing her thing. I am not jealous of her success I wish her well in her career. But as a black woman it is very sad to see that this light skinned/dark skinned attitude still exists. In Africa there are women bleaching their skin to take the melon out of their skin complexion. It's sad to see that a woman cannot love herself the way god has made her. This issue is beyond race. Look at celebrities in general. How they starve themselves to get movie roles or contracts. If you nip and tuck this you will get more roles. What about the talent? In this case Beyonce is talented and if she does lighten herself that's sad.
People whom are white don't understand this and think that black people are talking bad about them. We're not. Basically it's a self love issue. That is what it boils down to.

326. there is more white racism in this country than black racism....let's just all forget about color....why is it so important anyway

Posted at 6:29AM on Aug 7th 2008 by georgiegirl

327. Beyonce usually has her skin lightened to the albino stage and wears long, straight, blonde or gold wigs-this wasn't something L'Oreal "did to her". Look at the photos from the last 3 years and you will see that this is how she chooses to look most of the time.

328. The question is "is this ad offensive to black people?" The answer is...WHAT ISN'T OFFENSIVE TO ANYONE NOT A WHITE MALE? I thought it would be better with Obama being the talk of the town and the medias boyfriend. Then again, I thought it would be better when OJ got off. Then I thought it would be better when Tiger became the most famous and talked about man in the world. Then I thought it would get better when...wait, it will never get better. Why? Because we won/'t just drop it as a country. What more needs to be done? Where is the prejudice today?

329. Everything from nails, hair, skin tone and body shape are fake with all the hollywood people. Not just black folks. This is awesome, scary and funny all at the same time...oh yean and hillarious.

330. beyonce is not that light! even if you go back and look at photos when she was w/ destiny's chld, she wasn't that light then either. I also think it's a stupid comment to place blame on dark skinned blacks for starting these issues. that sounds more like a personal problem you have with yourself. but anyways, the picture was obviously photoshopped and it would have been nice to see her in natural tone. i agree i never seen her that dark before like in the picture above but she's never been that light either.
