Celebrity Justice
Britney Under Permanent Conservatorship

Lawyers in the Britney Spears conservatorship case have just asked the court commissioner to make her conservatorship permanent. And the judge said she would grant the request.

The conservatorship was scheduled to end on December 31.

Sources say one reason why Brit & Co. wanted to extend the conservatorship is that it makes it easier for her to regain custody of her kids -- the family law commissioner will feel more comfortable giving her added face time if there is a safety net.

The conservators will now also be responsible for handling her business affairs and career opportunities.

As for why they suddenly asked for a permanent conservatorship -- we're told the commish doesn't want to keep extending temporary power...that it makes more sense to make the conservatorship permanent and then just lift it when Brit is safe and sound.

Under the permanent conservatorship a medical team will oversee Britney's career to make sure what she does will not compromise her mental health.

The commish said, "The conservatorship is necessary and appropriate for the complexity of financial and business entities and her being susceptible to undue influence."

46. That mother f'er Slash from Guns 'n Roses and Velvet Revolver wrote one hell of an autobiography. Talk about excess and money/legal issues and what not! Britney, get thee to a Borders Books immediately and consider it mental health reading as far as what not to do then what to do. A great book, impossible to put down. Could just as easily be her writing this in 15 years. 488 pages so buckle up.

47. I personally am not a big fan of Brit's but I have suffered depression for years and it's not much fun. Antidepresants and nerve meds don't help all the time. And I've been through several. I would hate to know though that I could have lost my children in this battle. It is a mental illness by the way, and if she gets the counseling that I know she can afford, she has a fighting chance, Medical Science has come along way in this battle and I just wish that they could find a cure for it. Unfortunately, they haven't got a grip on it yet. I wish her the best even though I am not a big fan of her, she is human.

48. I was in a guardian/conservator for a mentally ill person. Age nor intellect have anything to do with it. Mental issues are a taboo subject thanks to the uninformed and merciless people. People kill themselves because they have no coping skills and talking about it to anyone is not an option. A conservator is a position that nobody wants and it is a tough position to be in. You love this person and want them to be better but they cannot be better because of thier mental illness. A lot of homeless people are mentally ill. Stop your hateful smack about mental illness because the Karma will come back to haunt you, I promise you that.
Jamie must be doing a good job because Brittany is making progress and continues to improve. She will get her kids back and thanks to the right medications will get her life back.

50. That fat tub of crap needs a babysitter 24/7 and some people keep saying she is "getting her life together".

51. It sounds good to me, she gets her kids back to the fullest extent and has more time to mature. The docs will make sure she does not over extend and will support her recovery with appropriate therapy and meds. No playboys to entice her full of drugs via her dads influence and everthing is on the up and up. Brits family is steppin in cause, she was very young and the wolves just about had her for lunch. At about 34 she'll have made significant headway.

52. I’m still trying to figure out what she did to make everyone think she was crazy. So she shaved her head? She’s a rock-star (well okay a pop star), but I’ve seen rock-stars doing a lot worse. Um she didn’t buckle up her kid? That’s bad, but not indicative of a mental health problem. Maybe there’s more to it than I see, but I feel for her .

53. I know of a person who was in the same situation. It took 7 years to heal. Its nothing you just brush off. This person is a celebrity and back on the stage and doing just great. Some of you might know who that is.....

58. Funny how they didn't mention that they had to get Britney's consent FIRST and that she can ask for it to be removed

59. Taken from actual news companies. If you always believe what TMZ posts as accurate and non bias, then you are an idiot and deserve to be lied to.

It's a move the singer apparently approves: A court-appointed attorney said the details had been explained to the 26-year-old and she agreed not to oppose it. Spears could petition later to have the conservatorship removed, but the court's order otherwise constitutes a lifetime arrangement, a court information officer said. Attorneys for Jamie Spears declined to comment after the hearing.

60. Bipolar disorder affects many people on many different levels.. Some people can manage it quite well and others need more help. Bipolar disorder is not a choice and it may affect people that you work with and it may affect family members. Alcohol and drugs make it even worse. Sadly, a lot of people have bipolar disorder and are never properly diagnosed. With medication, the disorder can be held under control, but there can be a lot of trial and error with that.

I am not for taking the rights away from another person, but I think in Britney's case with so many nasty people just feeding her whatever she wants and when she wants it, that it is best for someone else to step in and make sure she is ok (not only for her sake, but for the sake of the children as well).

Sorry to those out there that wanted me to just slam her....sorry, just can't do that. The woman needs help. Professional help and she needs someone with a clear head to help her. If that has to be her father...so be it.
