Nickelodeon: If Chris Brown Wins, Blame Kids

3/9/2009 8:00 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Chris Brown - NickelodeonEveryone's wondering why in the world accused woman beater Chris Brown is still up for two Kids' Choice Awards. We finally have an answer -- Nickelodeon is blaming the kids.

Instead of being responsible adults and taking a stance, Nickelodeon, which airs the award show at the end of the month, is hiding behind their tiny voters. A Nick exec tells TMZ Brown "was nominated by kids several months ago, and the kids who vote will ultimately decide who wins in the category."

In other words -- kids rule! Who needs adults stepping in to teach young minds why Mr. Brown might not be the best role model?

Remember, kids also want cake for breakfast, unlimited allowance and the keys to Dad's new Porsche.

Look our children are preached to daily about the power of forgiveness, but now we want to tell them that hey there are just certain things that we (adults) don't want you to forgive.Ok so who is really confused the Adults or the Kids? Kids are not as dumb as we want them to be. Part of being a parent is also trying understanding the choices that our kidz make with the lessons that we have taught them. Kidz rule !!!

I AM SO GLAD THAT NO ONE HAS EVER MADE A MISTAKE AT THE AGE OF 19. EVERYONE OF YOU HAS LIVED A MISTAKE FREE LIFE FROM 12 ON UP. YOU NEVER TEASED A PERSON IN SCHOOL THAT LEFT THEM EMOTIONALLY SCARRED FOR LIFE. YOU NEVER CHEATED ON A SIGNIFICANT OTHER. YOU NEVER LIED TO YOUR PARENT OR TEACHERS. EVERYTHING YOU EVER DID ONLY EFFECTED YOU. SO YOU NEVER DID ANYTHING WRONG..............LIARS.

I agree with #55anisha. Let the kids bek ids and vote for the music they like. Anytime a child follows the influences of someone outside their household, then that parent is not doing his/her job. The immediate surroundings are the biggest influence anyone could have. People always want a scapegoat for their lack of parenting.

Chris Brown, Michael Phelps, Jamie-Lynn Spears I'm sure all didnt look at acotrs and singers and say, i want to do like them and use illegal drugs, have sex with an overaged person without protection or beat a woman. All their parents missed something somewhere but children and teenagers are all expected to do immature things that sometimes have hugh consequences. For these people, it was played out in from the whole world.

Talk to your children about abuse, drug use and unprotected sex but don't demand that they vote for someone they don't really like because YOU feel that way. If you teach them well, they will follow in your footsteps instead of a celebrity and that the biggest thrill you could get as a parent. (provided you live on the straight)

TMZ. You are doing a wonderful journalistic job on this case. You are out doing ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, FOX, and all the news channels on abouting information that the public needs to be aware of. Between this story and the Northwest Bank, great job. Keep up the great work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I AM WRITTEN TO NICK AND VIACOM, AS WELL AS ALL THE COMPANIES THAT SPONSOR CHRIS BROWN AND RHIANNA. I HAVE INFORMED THEM THAT I WILL NOT BUY THEIR PRODUCTS IF THEY HELP SUPPORT BATTERS AND/OR POOR ROLE MODELS.

Even though I might disagree with what Chris Brown did to Rhianna, I still agree with Nick's choice on keeping him on the ballot. My children like Chris Brown, mostly from hearing his song with Jordin Sparks on Radio Disney. They do not know, or need to know what he did to Rhianna. They are kids, why would I tell them that? They watch kids shows. not the news orTMZ. This is an adult matter, leave the kids alone.

Everyone is making such a big deal outta this. So? he hit Rihanna, that shouldn't affect his carrer, he's still a good singer and dancer. And i'm not saying that hitting someone is good either but still, Zoey 101 is nominated, why isn't anyone saying anything about that?

#57 the internet did not have to exist. The newspapers and talk shows swept it under the rug.

So glad my child is smarter than Chris Brown. This guy is so off his radar screen now - due to his reprehensible behavior.

Yeah, that's very true, his personal life DOES NOT have to deal with this or his career. I still love Chris Brown and all of his music.

I think they should keep him on the ballot, but only because if they kick him off it will be far less humiliating than him only receiving the three votes he will probably (and deserves) to get. He deserves to get set up to fail VERY publicly. That being said, I totally understand why people want him off the ballot, especially because my method could very well backfire. In the unlikely event that he wins, or even comes close to winning, would be a sad commentary on our society indeed. Oh, and what the HELL is she thinking, taking him back??????

He is not being judged by his domestic abuse level he is being judged by his performanc (singing and dancing) Rhianna hasnt been judged by her domestic abuse level. Chris Brown is being prosecuted in a court of law and Im sure he will get what the court see's fit. Everything else is just personal opinion. All these parents need to stop looking for role models in entertainers they are not role models for your children! It is your job to raise your child properly and teach them right from wrong not television or radio. Miley Cyrus is dating a grown ass man, the girl on high school musical was basically a stripper all these nick kids grow up to fast (except Raven) Chris Brown and Rhianna does almost everything on stage but get naked and have sex. And you guys are on here talking about him not getting an award neither should she not only did she invade his privacy she hit him as much as she could before he defended himself and then when he got fed up and defended himself she called the police. Either way both of them were wrong but ironically none of her adds were pulled even after she took him back. They are humans they are not on a higher plateau than any of us, we are all people we go through things and we forgive forget and move on apparently Rhianna has, So should you guys although it doesnt matter anyway. Hell people still listen to R Kelly! lol

Food for thought - if he had gotten a DUI, would he have remained in the pool? Nope, not a chance. If he had been shot on camera puffing off a bong, would he still be in the pool? Nope. How is this different? The folks at Nick are making a costly choice.

As parents, we shelter our kids from a lot, and given the target audience for the Nick Kid's Choice awards, I would imagine most have little, if any knowledge about what he has done. So, frankly, there's probably little harm done to our children by leaving him IN. Now, from a parent pespective, I control what my kids watch, and I WON'T permit them to to watch Nick's shows if the producers there think that he has any right to be onstage and in the contender pool for an award aimed at using our children's power to elevate his status.

So, they can leave him and we will be done with Nick, or they make the right choice and my kids will be able to watch. They are making a costly mistake by failing to realize who controls the pursestrings of their target audience.

Nickelodeon needs to pull him; under the sweet voice and cute clothes he is a nothing but a thug.
