Gun-Toting Shawn Johnson Fan

3/26/2009 7:19 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

A man claiming he was "meant to be" with Shawn Johnson was arrested early Tuesday morning after trying to sneak on to the set of "Dancing With the Stars" -- and cops say he had two loaded guns and duct tape in his car.

Johnson's mother, Teri, has just filed a petition for a restraining order against the man, 34-year-old Robert O'Ryan. The restraining order seeks protection for 17-year-old Shawn, her mother, her father and her "Dancing" partner Mark Ballas.

According to documents filed by Johnson, "The LAPD searched [O'Ryan's] vehicle and located a loaded .45 handgun, a loaded shotgun, and materials classically used for kidnapping including duct tape, zip ties, and a map to the victim. Also found were love letters, clippings and other information on the victim."

According to the documents, O'Ryan told police "He had packed all his belongings and permanently left Florida to drive out here to be with [Shawn Johnson], he believes that she speaks to him personally through the television set and through ESP and that they will have a child together, he stated he would be with her no matter what."

According to the CBS incident report, the whole thing started Monday afternoon when a CBS employee noticed O'Ryan jumping a fence and entering a hallway in the East Studio. Private security confronted him and asked for ID -- and that's when O'Ryan produced an expired concealed weapons license. When guards asked if he had a weapon on him, O'Ryan admitted to having 2 guns in his car. At that point, the guards alerted the LAPD.

O'Ryan is currently in police custody. He was booked on suspicion of carrying a loaded firearm in public and is being held on $35,000 bail.

Restraining orders are used to remove someone (if they stick around) who has violated order by being near the person, calling or writing to them. A stalker is a stalker, some get noticed, some don't. Then there are those who are standing next to you, unknown to us all. Give thanks to the security guards that saw this person and did their work. This action saved a lot of people from being hurt.

We can go on and on, expired gun license; lots of nuts have valid ones . . . we just have to thank who or whatever, that most of us will not be a target of such.

I agree with Beaches comment---but treatment does not always work, if they don't take their meds. They have to have someone, not just their doctor or therapist, that sees them only once a week or month monitoring their meds intake.

Beaches Comment Below:

"I understand this situation is scary, but this guy has the classic symptoms of schizophrenia... locking him up in jail will only make it much, much worse, and most cops are not trained to deal with the mentally I'll (which seems absurd to me). Therapy and medicine could help this man turn his life around, let's just hope he gets the help he needs!"

Almost every day there is a new article or posting showing how this country and it's people are slipping deeper into degradation. And to give this mentally ill person a bail of only thirty five thousand dollars is positively ridiculous! Some of hte posts on here are as sick as the offender is! May God protect this young lady and her family.

she would beat his ass if he tried to take her away... thank God for those security guys, though, or things could have gone horribly wrong really quickly... good job, guys!

Mr. Getreal - Shawn is solid muscle. You don't carry fat when you are a world class gymnast.

Mr. Cowboy - Perverts and the mentally ill don't need a reason to act the way they do. What she wears has nothing to do with it. If someone is twisted and believes he is being spoken to through the TV and ESP it doesn't matter what she is wearing. She also wore similar items while competing in gymnastics - it's part of the sport. Get over it!

Shawn, you're great. Hang in there. Hopefully the justice system will put this guy away (jail or a mental institution) so you and your family are safe!

It's the Neo Cons who love to blame victims. 'She dressed like a slut, so she asked to get raped/stalked/assaulted' is the usual cry.

I wonder if all you sickies out there had the same thing happen to your daughter. Would you say that they deserved it. Or would you still be a sicko and say the same thing. Whether she is a bit overweight or anything, she does not deserve the comments against her. She is a viberant young lady and has represented our great country in the sport of all sports. Can you say the same thing about yourself. I think not.

I commend her mother for taking the actions she did against the man. It is very evident that he has a mental problem and should be treated for it.. It is too bad that all you sickos haven't had the opportunity to get mental help yourselves. But I am not sure there is enough proper people out there to help you all.

Restraining orders are worthless pieces of paper. I hope Shawn and her family have someone who is armed and able to protect her....a piece of paper wont do it.

First of all STFU to all of you butt-heads who are making rude comments about Shawn Johnson! Shame on you losers! She could have been kidnapped and murdered and all of you pukes can do is make fun of how she looks or how "overprotective" her mother is?! WTF?!!! Are you whack-jobs on crack or something? Second of all this guy is obviously more then a few bricks short of a full load. As to the flak about his bail, rest assured the judge had the good sense to raise the amount! THANK GOODNESS! I don't blame her for being scared. While I usually show little sympathy for big name celebrities being stalked, it's not because I wish any harm to them, it's because the big names usually have the means to afford around-the-clock security, while I doubt little Shawn Johnson and her family could really afford it, but at the same time they can NOW hardly afford to be without it. I hope (if they don't already have it) camera's that scan the fence line. IF they do, then why wasn't the guy spotted earlier? And if not, WHY NOT?! For both serious and not-so-serious reasons a camera scanning the fence line would spot potential stalkers, or even potential car thieves. That fence looked pretty easy to scale for the average person. I would have thought that this common-sense precaution would have been implemented long ago.

A complete stranger with an expired gun license and two guns in his car is really scary. What is happening to the human race?

I totally agree with kellyR40. Most of these comments are rude and most of these posters should get a life, and stop picking on an innocent teenage girl. Most of these posters, the ones with the rude comments, please GET A LIFE.
Jeez, I honestly think there's something wrong with my own human species.
That is all I have to say.

I have a daughter and I believe that her parents did the right think by protecting her and her looks doesn't matter she is a young girl.
