Jackson Memorial Tickets -- Now a Worldly Event

Michael JacksonMichael Jackson is clearly the international star in death that he was in life -- the memorial lottery is now open to the world.

Initially, only U.S.residents qualified for the ticket drawing to score seats for Tuesday's Staples Center memorial. But now the folks putting it together have decided to open up registration to all earthly beings, saying, "Additional legal terms have been incorporated into the conditions of entry to allow non-U.S. residents the opportunity to register for the random ticket drawing."

The drawing closes tonight at 6:00 PM PT. Click here to register.

2. It"ll be interesting when a couple of hundred thousand Joko Loonies without tickets wo want in show up and want in. I've heard that the LAPD is going to cordon off several blocks around the venue. The sad part is that in this country we can't use water cannons as a part of the festivities.

4. In any case, what's the fuss with stopping fans from descending on L.A.?

Last I heard CA was in recession. These fans will be an amazing source of income for the city. I am sure they'll be bringing in more money than it will take the city to police the event. Furthermore, the bigger the event, the more future tourism the city will probably attract. No matter what your opinion, Jackson was indisputably the most famous superstar of all time. Being associated with L.A. will only increase tourism and income to the area.

10. This story is false.

As reported at http://michaeljacksonfuneral.org, the US residency requirement was eliminated on funeral details at the StaplesCenter.com website.

HOWEVER, they added Official Rules which require that anyone winning a ticket declare under penalty of perjury that they are a US citizen.

While guests of the US citizen can be from anywhere in the world - get real. How many US citizens are going to win tickets and offer one of them to someone around the world?

12. If the Jacksons want this big, hoopla of a memorial then they should pay for it and everything it entails. I am sick of the taxpayers picking up the tab for some lame reason, or person whatever you prefer.

13. Parking is usually not free in these events so the city can set up parking fees. Then they can set up donation centers around the staples center also to help pay for police work, etc.

The problem with giving out FREE 17,500 tickets is that people may win the lottery and only half of them will show up. I have a gut feeling that of those winners of the two tickets each, about half of them will be unused.

I don't think that place will be packed at all because it is on a Tuesday at 10am. Tuesdays are very slow days that's why businesses have TUESDAY specials.
