3. Didn't realize $500,000 was the cost of life. You get millions for spilling hot coffee on some one at McDonalds but if your family member catches on fire I guess its just not the same.

4. hmmm... that's actually a pretty small settlement for a death. :(

5. Doubtful they'll have that money for long as DJ AM's estate will take it from them, and more.

6. It wasn't their fault he was an addict. He was doing this stuff before the accident. I feel sorry for him and his family s loss, but this settlement is bogus!

8. Who cares. Another millionaire kills himself because he is depressed and the family has to blame others! Sad that he killed himself, further sad that loved ones want to profit from stupidity and lack of moral and sound judgement. A shame all around.

9. Such a shame these people who also lost a loved one now have to worry if this tiny (by the standards of some of the more outrageous settlements we've seen, like the multi-million dollar coffee spill someone else mentioned) amount will be taken away. Everyone is sad that AM died, but people suffer tragedies every day and not all of them turn to drugs as an escape. Do the scumbag lawyers representing his estate also intend to sue the girlfriend who broke up with him, allegedly sending him into his drug-fueled depression?

10. Such a shame. Not only is this amount puny (compared to some of the more outrageous settlements we've seen, like the multi-million dollar coffee spill someone else mentioned), but now they have to worry if it will be taken away and given to the greedy heirs & lawyers of someone who didn't even die in the accident. It's a shame DJ AM died, but people suffer tragedies every day and not all of them turn to drugs. How do they think returning Gulf vets feel after facing death, carnage, and life threatening conditions daily? Lawyers are such scumbags. It's always someone else fault. I wonder if they intend to also sue the girl who broke up with him and sent him into his severe depression shortly before his death? Technically, she is partly responsible as well. When will the madness end...?

13. you mean this man survived a plane crash-just to overdose on drugs??? i mean-the rich and famous are stupid ass people who need to live again in the real world.

14. From what I understand, the co-pilot's wife and daughter are getting an insurance settlement. What the hell does this have to do with DJ AM?

Anyway, DJ AM is dead. He was a crackhead.

15. I'm happy for the family of the co-pilot, but I bet they would rather have their husband/dad there with them. Hopefully, they will able to collect and keep the money without DJ's lawsuit being a facter. Time will tell.
