FBI Involved in Michael Jackson Molestation Trial

12/22/2009 2:29 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

UPDATE: In our document search, we just found out why the FBI was involved in the Michael Jackson molestation case. According to one of the docs, the LAPD Sexually Exploited Child Unit contacted the FBI in 1993, asking the agency if it would be "interested in working a possible federal violation against Jackson concerning the transportation of a minor across state lines for immoral purposes."

The FBI was secretly involved in the child molestation case against Michael Jackson, according to documents just released by the agency.

In July, 2004, a memo was drafted stating that the Santa Barbara County District Attorney's investigation produced "collateral investigative issues, some of which potentially rise to the level of Federal Violations, in the New York and Miami Divisions as well as the Los Angeles Division." The memo does not elaborate on the nature of the alleged offenses.

According to the docs, FBI special agents from L.A., New York and Miami were assigned to assist Santa Barbara county prosecutors in their case against Jackson -- a case in which Jackson was found not guilty.

The memo says the special agents and prosecutors spent time discussing various strategies in the case.

There are also documents showing the FBI was involved in the 1993 molestation investigation. In one doc, there are notes which state Jackson was riding in a train with a boy whom Jackson identified as his cousin. The notes say, "He was very possessive of boy," and at night on the train a witness "heard questionable noises through wall."

Helloooo???

Post 31. The difference is they are your kids. Would you let your kids sleep in MJ's bed? I would not let my kids sleep in a bed with ANY other adult.

Why is it you aren't making a news story about the part of the FBI files that clearly shows the so called "evidence" tape was tampered with??????????It clearly states this tape was dubbed over and we can guess who did it as well.It certainly wasn't Michael!!!!

Wow. Tom Sneddon was OBSESSED with trying to completely destroy Michael Jackson and turn the rest of his life into a living hell behind bars, as well as bankrupt him. What an abuse of police power. He tried everything he could, including calling in the FBI, but -- still -- no credible evidence of child molestation was ever found anywhere in the world. The truth prevailed.

Folks, give TMZ a little credit. They're not implying anything by reporting this. The reporting was unbiased here, and the facts speak for themselves. It is clear by reading these reports on the FBI's involvement and surveillance that there was a gross abuse of police power here and a vendetta against an innocent man.

I sure hope that Tom Sneddon gets what he deserves someday.

The funniest incident I think, was when investigators ransacked Hayvenhurst (the Jacksons' Encino home) and found a VHS tape in Michael's old room labeled "chicks". They couldn't wait to get back to the office and play it since "chicks" is apparently a slang term used by paedophiles to refer to young boys. When they put the tape in the VCR they were greeted with images of fuzzy yellow chicks running around! LOL!!!!

Your tax dollars at work. Should this really have been the top priority for the FBI- collaberating on trumped up charges by some ego driven two bit DA???? How is this even w/in their jurisdiction. What a cluster.

They neeed to concentrate on arresting the Dr. who murdered MJ and less about the past or in this instance : polluting the jury pool.
When the trial ended, IT should have been OVER.

As others have stated, it really truly does say something that Michael was investigated for this type of crime for at least 10 years and maybe more, and in all that time, they still couldn't come up with hard evidence -- or even convincing evidence -- to prove he did what they said he did. Yes he was one of the most famous people on earth and people who came into contact with him were no doubt awe-struck, and yes he was rich and could easily have paid people off to stay silent, but it seems to me that this type of technique would only work for so long. It is pretty hard to believe that in all that time he was never caught by one witness who was even remotely credible. It's also hard to believe that in over 10 or 15 or 20 years not one single acquaintance, friend, employee, "victim", or law enforcement official ever got an opportunity to tape him either auditorily or on video in the act or even get a photo of him in a compromising position. Heck, the FBI has more auditory evidence and believable witnesses on crimes by members of the MOB than they were apparently able to get on Michael! If he did do this, he's gotta be the smartest, most careful criminal in history!

The molestation of children is one of the most awful crimes in our world. I just can't believe that if it were true, and he did it repeatedly, that in 20 years, someone with access and credibility and a conscience and convincing evidence would not have popped up at some point. Since they never did, I have to conclude that all these accusations were fabricated out of greed, and then continually fueled (and easily so) by Michael's insistence upon behaving in a way that did not conform with the normal boundaries and rules of society (i.e. sleeping in the same bed with young boys and admitting it).

I think this is great news! Looks like the FBI also tried to nail him but never came up with anything. That's because he never DID anything. To me, this just continues to confirm that Michael Jackson was an innocent man. Any more reports available that can be printed to let the public know nothing could be found? I'd LOVE to see them posted!
