'West Wing' Star Returns Fire on Clippers Owner

1/7/2010 5:48 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Kim Webster -- the former "West Wing" actress whose L.A. apartment burned to a crisp last September -- is now suing the man she claims is responsible ... the owner of the L.A. Clippers.

According to docs filed yesterday in L.A. Superior Court, Webster and her fellow tenants claim their landlord Donald Sterling -- who also owns the Clippers -- could have prevented the devastating electrical fire ... but seriously dropped the ball on building maintenance.

Among a laundry list of complaints about Sterling's allegedly dangerous mismanagement and terrible treatment of tenants -- Webster claims Sterling was warned about the faulty wiring way before the fire happened ... and did nothing.

The tenants claim their personal property's been destroyed, they've sustained "loss of earning due to sickness and impaired health, moving expenses, cleaning expenses, loss of quiet enjoyment, annoyance, medical expenses, and pain and suffering" -- and they want Sterling to pay up ... stat.

I'm sorry this woman's apartment burned, but TMZ... calling her a "star" of the West Wing is ridiculous. As I recall, she was the Chief of Staff's secretary, appearing occasionally - 7-8 times a year - with a line or two on each show.

She was an "actress" on the WW, not a "star"; stop the hyperbole.

I'm a big West Wing fan and I not only recognized her anme, but, I didn't recognize her pix. She is listed as ONE of Toby Zieglers secretaries, plural as in 1 of his many secretaries. Come on TMZ - NBC and Leno story taking all of your resources today?

That said I hope the tenants of the building get BIG bucks from their lazy landlord - if they can prove their case. No reason for fires to start if BASIC maintenance is done!

I love how people who have done nothing are quick to judge others. Who cares how many shows she was on. Fact is when the show won the big rewards, she was up on stage with the cast. Before you start spouting off because your turkey pot pie is not done yet and you are bored, go criticize someone on the Starwars.com boards... or take a longer shower and imagine people like you...

It is not surprising to see Sterling back in the news for property "mismanagement." Back in the early 1980s Donald Sterling decided to expand his exclusive Beverly Comstock Hotel located between Westwood Village and Beverly Hills. He purchased the apartment building next to it, which I lived in while attending college. He did nothing to keep up the apartment complex. Sometime thereafter he served eviction notices, demanding everyone move out, without offering us the legally required moving fees. Tenants protested, Sterling let the complex run down even more, people moved out, homeless people began occupying empty apartments and broke into residents' apartments, and Sterling had a crew come in and knock out front walls of empty apartments, making the place look like it had been bombed. Eventually he lost a civil law suit worth far more than the cost would have been had he proceeded legally. If you haven't noticed something indecent and incongruous about this man, you haven't been paying attention.

I feel bad these folks lost everything this way, and am sure eventually they will go to court over it, thing is this is why you have to get some kind of renters insurance on your belongings, because by the time you spend out of pocket, and you are dealing with the emotional part of it too etc.,that landlord has attorneys who delay the case as much as possible, and during that time if you had renters insurance you at least could have gotten some reimbursement and let the insurance with their lawyers go after the landlord to get their money back they put out for you. That way you are getting on with your life and the lawyers duke it out. Very few people get this kind of insurance, like people who buy extra disability coverage policies, you think you will never use it, but things like this are out of your control, and life is unpredictable.

Donald Sterling is one of the worst slum lords in SoCal. I hope someone finally holds him responsible!

Not DONALD T. STERLING MAN OF THE YEAR or DONALD T. STERLING MAN OF THE DECADE, or DONALD T. STERLING MAN OF THE CENTURY! I wonder if this will be a topic at the upcoming DONALD T. STERLING SUMMIT where DONALD T. STERLING will award several DONALD T. STERLING FOUNDATION grants to DONALD T. STERN SCHOLARS which will be administered by DONALD T. STERLING & ASSOCIATES and its managing partner, DONALD T. STERLING.

I couldn't have said it better myself. The clown's self-promotion is mind-numbing. Don't even get me started...

Toby (not Chief of Staff, but Director of Communications) has two assistants, Bonnie and Ginger. Webster played Ginger. Any "big fan" of the show knows this...

Good luck, Kim!
