Anderson Cooper --

Haitian Hero

1/19/2010 6:16 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Anderson Cooper raced to the aid of a badly injured boy in Haiti yesterday -- dropping the camera and carrying the bloodied child away from a violent incident in the middle of a chaotic scene.

Cooper claims he had heard gunfire in the area and raced to see what had happened -- when he noticed some people on the top of a store throwing slabs of concrete down at looters ... one of which smashed a child in the head.

As blood streamed down his face, Cooper carried him to a safer area and handed him off to a local for treatment.

Cooper says he has no idea what happened to the boy.

Wonder if Anderson would've done this without a camera. He sure does love being looked at. Anderson probably smeared the blood all over himself to make himself look better on camera.

I like Anderson Cooper, in general, but I'm just not impressed by this. Maybe I'm just jaded, but
watch in 3 months the kid will be telling Larry King how he was approached to take the "part" and when his book is coming out.

God bless the Haitian people in their time of need. I remain in prayer for their well being. It must be chaos down there right now.

You really shouldnt grab people that suffer a head injury like that and run with their body contorted. It's best to just drag them while keeping their head stable if they really need to be moved immediately. It may look good on TV but that is not the way to handle the injured.

AC has no idea coz as soon as the cameras shut off, Anderson dropped the kid on the street.

Anderson Cooper has been in journalism for a lot of years. I remember in high school we had a tv in every room to show the news channel "Channel One," which he was an anchor on. Even back then he was all commando dodging bullets and saving lives. He really is awesome!

ANDERSON COOPER AND DR. SANJAY GUPTA are both examples of the American Spirit. Im not suprised with Anderson this is the same thing he did with Hurricane Katrina.

Much RESPECT for Anderson Cooper. Thank you!!!
