Anderson Cooper --

Haitian Hero

1/19/2010 6:16 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Anderson Cooper raced to the aid of a badly injured boy in Haiti yesterday -- dropping the camera and carrying the bloodied child away from a violent incident in the middle of a chaotic scene.

Cooper claims he had heard gunfire in the area and raced to see what had happened -- when he noticed some people on the top of a store throwing slabs of concrete down at looters ... one of which smashed a child in the head.

As blood streamed down his face, Cooper carried him to a safer area and handed him off to a local for treatment.

Cooper says he has no idea what happened to the boy.

Anderson Cooper is a hero.I think if were anyone else with a camera, they would have stood there recording, just to get the "perfect story", as seen with the camera person who was capturing the whole thing. For AC to drop the camera and go rescue this child shows his true humanity.

The former shadow of WTC one.

Good job OR - so exploitive! CNN has been trying so hard to line-up the Pulitzers on a daily basis. AC helps a kid...but keep the camera rolling! Kid has a minor head injury so AC picks up the kid (barely able to) and carries him 10 feet...Keep camera rolling!
AC, why not give the kid one of your famous T shirts for his head to stop the bleeding?
Geraldo tried this a few times with the babies...Peeps see through it...it's pathetic CABLE NEWS competition.
Did AC do a few pushups before the camera was turned on?

I love AC!!
Being the son of Gloria Vanderbuilt, he could have just lived off of his money. But he has worked harder than just about any jounalist to cover the important (and dangerous) stories.

He is the antithisis to Casey Johnson.

Bravo to Gloria for raising such an intelligent and compassionate son.

To post #16 long john69 and shaniqua and others like you- What have you done to help these poor unfortunate souls? The reporters and newsmen and camera men who brave these situations have something you will never have. Guts, compassion, integrity, and heart. As you sit behind your computers and make stupid remarks, I can only hope that you realize that there is more to this world outside of your miserable existance. Wake up, dummies.

Sanjay Gupta threw the rock, Mika Brzezinsk (in black-face) held the camera and Anderson ran off with the boy to rape him later on after sedatives were administered...

I cried when I saw this video. Been a mother it hurts to see so much pain specialy whe the one that gets hurt are kids. Anderson Cooper and Sanjay Gupta are a truly and honest man with a beautiful heart and soul. God bless everyone over there. I can't stop feeling guilty that I don't have enough money to go there and try to help

I think that kid has clearly seen that looting has its rewards. As for AC he knows that blood is great for ratings.

Oh, buh-ruther!

A made-for-TV caper...

For his next trick, Anderson Cooper will leap a tall building (if he can find one).

cnn, anderson cooper, & sanjay gupta have done a great job covering this crisis and providing aid while they are there. i am a die hard fox news viewer, but cnn's coverage has outdone fox news by miles.

heroshima looked bad after the a-bomb, look at it now. This is the best thing that ever happened to haiti. Once the US rebuilds it, it will be the envy of the neighborhood.
