Strange Life Insurance Request in 'Survivor' Murder

5/18/2010 7:01 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

0409-survivor A nanny who worked for the former 'Survivor' producer and his murdered wife claims there was ominous talk about a life insurance policy just before they took the fateful trip to Mexico.

In a declaration filed with the court, Maria Oaxaca claims just before the trip, Monica Burgos Beresford-Redman told her that her husband Bruce asked her to take out a life insurance policy.

The declaration makes it clear ... the policy was for life insurance in the event of Monica's death and the apparent beneficiaries were the couple's two children.

According to the declaration, "She [Monica] thought it was strange since they had never taken out insurance policies before any of their other trips and said that it made her feel like her life was a soap opera."

The nanny's declaration was submitted in support of a motion by Monica's two sisters to become guardians of the children.  The two sisters are opposing the move by Bruce's parents to become permanent guardians.

If neither of the sisters are American citizens, it might not matter what the will says. Since the children are US citizens, they have a presumptive right to stay in the US, regardless of a deceased parent's wishes. The court will probably assign an attorney to represent the children.

Here is a report from KTLA with footage of an investigator in Cancun saying they don't have ANY evidence that he killed her and other really eye-raising stuff ...

Looks like this guys is going to get away with it. I saw the latest video on KTLA where the Mexican investigator was saying Bruce said they had no marital problems when they questioned him and they can't link him to the crime. What a joke. Most likely h/his parents will get the kids too.
I heard about this life insurance story on Nancy Grace last month. Either way looks like the Mexicans will let him go soon.
Another good reason to avoid travel to that country

If Bruce Beresford-Redman indeed hatched a plot to kill his wife in order to collect on insurance, then he could be charged with murder in the state where the course of events initiated, regardless of where the homocide took place.

And just WHY would the other prisoners kill him? And what makes you an expert on Mexican prisons?
