Gary C's Ex: 'He Would've Been Like Muhammad Ali'

6/3/2010 10:42 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Gary Coleman's ex-wife Shannon Price is defending her decision to pull the plug on life support because she says she didn't want Gary to be like Muhammad Ali or Terri Schiavo.  The comment is so offensive and wrong, it raises questions ... whether her decision to terminate Gary's life was appropriate.

TMZ obtained an interview with Price ... shot the day after Gary died.  Among other things, Price blurted out that she's heard speculation that she pushed Gary and that caused him to fall and ultimately hemorrhage.  Price insists she didn't push Gary -- a weird statement, since no one had publicly accused her of that.

Gary fell in his Utah home May 26, hit his head on the floor and suffered an intracranial hemorrhage.  Shannon, who was divorced from Gary, apparently still had authority to terminate life support at the hospital, which she did on May 28 -- he died a short time later.

Police have said there was "nothing suspicious" involving Gary's fall.

Price fondly mentions that Gary did a lot for her -- like buy her a car.

as a "liberal sh*t" or whatever the stars and asterisks represent, i humbly attack the "stupid conservative" who assumes liberals do not support euthanasia... he had a tough life, and a rough injury, and no matter what one's lot in life is, it is a hard and often correct choice to pull a plug on someone in his state

The only people that really know what was going on with Gary in his last days were his ex and the doctors. Pulling the plug is a personal decision made by families every day. I am sure he had a medical directive in place since he had many health issues in his life. Also everyone is surprised that an ex can pull the plug - reread the article - Gary gave her the authority to make medical decisions for him. I am sure she has a health care do***ent with all the required signatures that the hospital requires. I know because we went through this with my father's passing earlier this year. The woman was doing what was asked of her - she is just not good with words and their delivery. Makes for good press.

PAM , gary may have given her authority to make medical decisions for him ( gary's iq was obviously just as low as hers is ) , but he didn't give her permission to push him down a flight of stairs . why gary was stupid enough to give someone like this c u n t , who wouldn't even get near him when he he's bleeding profusely from the head , we'll never know . sounds like your dad was just as dumb , and u as a daughter to let it happen is disgusting . i guess you didn't love your dad . pulling a plug IS a hard decision to make , that's why it should never take only one day to make it . that's how long this pig of a woman took to make that decision .

and i've got more news for ya , einstein , this is not about a woman who just " isn't good with words and their delivery " ... i mean i've never heard such an ignorant , naive , and moronic statement in my life . this woman is so obviously a sociopathic , goldigging piece of **** , that a 10 year old can see it .

Ah, Jeff, you do not no anything about my father's passing and yet you seem to think you know exactly what happened. My father was suffering from Alzheimer's for over 12 years and had declined into nothingness before his passing. He ended up in the hospital with a very bad case of pneumonia along with his other body systems crashing. He wasn't dumb and I wasn't disgusting as you so judgmentally stated. His medical directive had been in place way before he got sick and he was adamant about never being left to languish when there was no hope. My brothers and I fulfilled his last wishes and I have no regrets about his passing. He went peacefully with his family by his side telling him it was okay to let go and go home to our mom. He was 84 and had lived a great life. So you need to keep your ignorant comments to yourself - your posting is a prime example of people not knowing what they are talking about and purport to think that they know. You know nothing!

Good grief people! as a health care professional, i can tell you this woman made a courageous decision and the right one based on this man's underlying health. ok let's see, he had not one but TWO failed kidney trans and was on dialysis for pete's sake. dialysis is not a cure, its to buy time. His fall was likely due to his health not because his ex pushed him down some stairs., he had a seiz disorder on top of everything else. the public can be so clueless and misinformed in regards to health issues..he was comprised and sick. wouldnt survive surgery. LEts be realistic people., dont ever assume - every life comes to an end sooner or later.. its about quality of life for the pt not for the survivors..

Ailina:
Thank you for your comments. Both my parents have passed and they were adamant about their quality of life and end of life care. They made sure their health care do***ents were in order and that we as their children honored those do***ents. Many of these posters probably haven't had real life experience with these type of situations. First and foremost, advanced medical directives and health care do***ents must be produced at the time of admission and only the person/persons designated by the patient to make medical decisions will be allowed to discuss the patient's health status with the doctors. Doctors just don't arbitrarily pull someone off life support as the Terry Shiavo case proved. As I have stated in my earlier posts, families have to make these painful decisions every day and it is very personal. No one should sit in judgment because, quite frankly, they don't know the situation and what truly is happening. My father told me clearly, loudly, and without hesitation, you are to pull the plug when I get incapacitated many years ago before he became afflicted with Alzheimer's. My mother was very clear about her wishes as well before she finally suc***bed to cancer after a valiant 20-year battle. So, folks, stand down. Maybe some day you will have first hand experience in these types of situations and then finally understand all that transpires in someone's last days.

alina u really don't know your elbow from a hole in the ground .... everybody does die someday , that's true , and many of those somedays are because they were murdered . it's truly beyond ignorant and naive to think otherwise . i don't think there is one person on this board who just likes to start ideas about conspiracy theories and spread rumors regarding this case . in this specific case it's certainly more than likely she killed him . if a person can't see that even at first glance they are really in denial or just horribly stupid . this woman ( and i use the term very loosely ) obviously couldn't stand this guy and only wanted to get anywhere near him because he was famous . a ten year old can see that one . she only further proved that by her actions on that 911 call . what spouse , if they really loved them , wouldn't try and revive their partner at any cost if they needed it .?? this woman didn't wanna be within 100 feet of him at the time he needed her most . they also have a history of violence in their marriage , so how in the world is it such a big stretch to think she wanted him dead. much , much , much , much stranger things have happened . i'm the last person to believe conspiracy theories , but in this instance it doesn't take a brain surgeon to see the possibilities .
