Derek Fisher Meets with Miami Heat Honchos

7/10/2010 1:01 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

0710_derek_fisher_ex_gettyDerek Fisher is currently meeting with Miami Heat team president Pat Riley and owner Micky Arison to discuss the possibility of signing with the Heat ... TMZ has learned.

We're told Fish is meeting with Riley and Arison at the Mandarian Oriental Hotel in Miami. The meeting began around 12:30 PM ET.

Riley has already made the biggest splash in NBA free agency, signing LeBron James and Chris Bosh while re-signing Dwyane Wade. Signing Fisher -- a five-time NBA champion with the Los Angeles Lakers -- would be a huge step towards filling out the rest of the roster.

Im a huge Laker fan but we can't blame Fisher if he goes, he makes less than Adam Morrison per year on the Lakers.
Plus the Heat will need all the help they can get if they want to beat a healthy Lakers next season

What would Kobe's reaction be towards Fisher, if he came to Miami and won his 6th ring tieng Jordan before he did?

Worry about the Celtics? They had to get Miami's center for a reason cause they could've gotten Hayward that had better knee's than Germaine. They got him cause he knows Miami's style of playing. All you hatters making it sound that Miami has a pathetic team but before these three signed with Miami your teams were kissing their ***'es to get them. Dont be hatters cause the next team they sign could be with your team. Take your hat off to Miami.

The Fish will stay in LA and retire as a Laker. I expect to see the Celtics and the Lakers in the finals again. The Heat has'nt proven anything yet. We don't even know if they can get along with each other for a full season.
I saw the three kings show last knight, personally I thought the three amogos was much more comical.

Come on Pat Riley, go after SHAQ and solidify the team. SHAQ has played with lebron and wade. All they need is someone big down under to get boards and move people around.

Personally, I think Fisher will stay in L.A. He's just visiting Miami to strengthen his negotiating position with the Lakers.

im a real big laker fan but to be HONEST fisher wouldnt be a crucial loss for the lakeshow, why do you think J.Farmar hasnt signed elsewhere yet? why do you think brown is staying? why do you think they signed Steve Blake? the pieces to the puzzle are unfolding if fisher leaves not a very big deal IN MY EYES i love fisher but he just isnt the same =(

this isn't so much about filling out the Heat squad, but more on dismantling the Laker's championship team... guarantee it! don't take the offer Fish! you're much more appreciate in LA!

NO! Fisher Stay with LA.
Stay with the best team in the NBA!

Fisher needs to know the Miami Heat have'nt won anything yet. They're counting their chickens before they hatch.Every championship he won was with the Lakers, and he needs to stay where the team has proved itself again and again.Miami has 3 stars and nothing else, and they really don't know if they can play together.
