Prisoner's Wife to A&E: Keep My Vagina Out of It!

1/8/2011 12:44 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

The wife of a prison inmate is suing A&E, claiming the network falsely made it appear that she was smuggling drugs to her husband via her vagina.

0108_prison_squad_bn_ae_video

Marlorita Battle claims she was minding her own business -- visiting her hubby at the Riverbend State Prison in Tennessee -- when, unbeknownst to her, a crew for the show "The Squad: Prison Police" was secretly filming her.

Though she says nothing untoward happened during her visit, when A&E aired the show, they made her look like a drug smuggler. Specifically, Battle claims the episode featured a member of the prison police squad describing how outsiders smuggle drugs by carrying them inside their body cavities.

Battle says her images were plastered all over the screen as the squad member described how women often hide the drugs in their vaginas. And then Battle is featured walking toward the bathroom, then returning to kiss her husband goodbye. Battle says it was clear ... A&E was suggesting she had passed drugs to her hubby through "oral contact."

Battle is suing A&E, along with Wild Eyes Productions, for $75,000 in compensatory damages and $300,000 in punitive damages, plus profits from the show.

I agree with #2, isn't there something you have to sign before they are allowed to air your face on these shows? You always see where people's faces are blurred, I assumed those were people who wouldn't sign the consent form.

She has a winner of a case for certain. If she was not busted doing what they said she did which I assume she was not A&E will settle this rather quickly. If anything, she didn't ask for enough money.

I'm confused. Why did TMZ cut off the video right before the moment of truth? Was her husband found to have drugs on him immediately after the visit or not? If not, why did A&E even air the whole scenario? And if he didn't have drugs on him then it would seem to me that she has a slam dunk case and I would have sued for even more.

It is called defamation of character and it is illegal. Notice other people's faces were blurred yet her's was not. In a jail or not, producers for a show must obtain the signature and consent of those being viewed. Especially if she was not the one incarcerated. And if she was falsely accused of drug smuggling, the show has no doubt defamed her character which is a crime.

WOW, YEA THEY DID MAKE HER LOOK GUILTY RIGHT FROM THE GET GO. HELL, SHE COULD JUST WENT TO REST ROOM TO WASH HER HANDS QUICK AND WENT BACK OUT. NOTICE THERE WAS NO FINAL RESULT FROM THE CONVO WITH THE PRISONER AND THE GUARD. THEY VID GETS CUT THERE. THE DUDE WAS INNOCENT THAT'S WHY THEY CUT IT OTHERWISE THEY WOULD'VE KEPT IT IN TO PROVE THE POINT. SHE'S GOT A CASE.. AND I WAS HOPING SHE WAS WRONG AND WAS JUST A MONEY GRUBBER. OK, SHE'S BOTH.. HAHA.

No lawsuit. I am sure that somewhere prior to her entering the room there was a sign that a TV show was taping. This is the same deal with teh wet floor cones you see places put out when it rains or they mop. You don't have to see it, someone just has to testify it was there. A&E was using her actions as an example. In no way did they imply that she was smuggling drugs.

America is such a litigious society. Lazy a** people looking for an easy payday. I hate all lazy a** people (white. That's not racist. You can't be racist against anythine that is not concerning race (for all you -you must be a racist- jerks).

I have read every story on this situation I could find and none of them mention whether the husband was found to have drugs on him or not during the show. I mean the video shows them going to search him after the visit so what was the result of the search? I hate when stories are done like this. It was on TV for crying out loud. If the man was found not to have drugs then tell us that. Geez.

Good for her. A&E should never have used her image in their show without her consent and without making it clear what her image would be used for. Hope she gets her money.

If the man was found to not have drugs then she should sue. That has nothing to do with being litigeous. Her face was splashed across America on TV being accused of smuggling drugs into prison. If she didn't do it and her husband was not found to have drugs on him immediately following the visit she absolutely should sue and so should he. The way they are covering the story makes me wonder if the husband was caught with drugs and they just didn't charge the wife and she's suing solely because she was not arrested.

People are just plain stupid .. There is no way in hell that this woman did NOT know she was being filmed .. And I know for a FACT that she signed a consent form to have her image shown on the show .. Here is where the lawsuit comes in.

1) unbeknownst to her, a crew for the show "The Squad: Prison Police" was secretly filming her.
A) This may be the truth .. She did NOT know at the time she was being filmed, that the name of the show was called THE SQUAD, but she knew she was being filmed by someone.

2) AFTER the filming A&E DID get her consent to show her image because they CAN NOT show it without her consent.
A) She signed the consent because it was no big deal because she DID NOT do anything wrong .. If she had she would have been arrested on the spot.

3) After A&E analyzed the footage, they realized that could make something out of nothing.
A) People outside of hollywood don't realize that reality tv is so far from reality that its rediculous .. I have been part of many reality shows and its all set up ... They direct you to do things to set up reactions .. Its called a reaction shot if you don't have many cameras .. Director says " when your husband walks into the room act like you haven't seen him for months and make sure you give him a long passionate kiss for at least 4 seconds " .. They edit that and do a voiceover to say "she is tranferring drugs orally .. we got him "

She is not sueing them because she was on the show .. Because she DID sign a consent .. She is suing them because of HOW THEY USED HER IMAGE ON THE SHOW .. they used her image in a negative untruth way by insinuating that she was a drug smuggler and therefore being defamed ... This is a clear case that she will absolutely win .

And the final part is that TMZ is making a news out of something that isn't news .. Like the the twins born on 2 different days .. What the story ends up being is that it was planned that the babies would be delivered by c-section .. 1 at 1 minute before midnight and the 2nd child 1 minute later at midnight the next day .. Its just news making up news.

When I first saw what she was asking for I was surprised, but happy that she was being so reasonable about it. I don't think what she is asking for is excessive at all. In these days of sue happy people asking for 10 million or more??? She should have started higher and settled for lower...and throw in her legal fees while she was at it.
