More than anything Apple needs to have a transition plan in place so that his absence doesn't impact its productivity. Given the abruptness of the announcement and the lack of a specific return date, it sounds as though they might be without his leadership for some time. His absence will show whether they learned anything during the period between the Mac and the ipod. Look at how inconsistently Microsoft has performed since Gates has left.

Can he afford to take off? Does he have good insurance or a high co pay? Does he have Aflac?

Nothin' but another rich Junkie. Who will be blaming his addiction on someone else...
