'Men' Co-Creator -- The Show MUST Go On!!!

3/2/2011 9:00 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

The guy who co-created "Two and a Half Men" with Chuck Lorre is FIGHTING to make sure the show does NOT get canceled ... and has been telling people, "This show is not over."

0301_lee_chuck_EX_Getty

Lee Aronsohn – an executive producer on "Men" and "Big Bang Theory" -- has been vocal about NOT wanting to cancel "Men" .. especially because Lee recently made a deal to leave his post on "Big Bang Theory" to focus on Sheen's show.

But that was before the drama started.

Now, sources connected to the production tell us Lee had a "big meeting" with Chuck and a mystery third party yesterday regarding the fate of "Men."

We're told the mystery person could be another actor from the show ... or a bigtime exec.

Stay tuned ...

Chuck Lorre has a history of clashing with his stars. I don't see he and Charlie working it out to the point of creating a working relationship.

I've only recently heard about Mr. Lorre headbutting with stars of his other shows. Does he have a reputation in the biz for being difficult to work with? Or just strong enough to push back against inflated egos?

After the wild eyed, drugged up face of Sheen that we've had to look at lately, it's great to see two men who look intelligent, grounded and sane. Here's hoping the show goes on without Sheen---there is a great cast there without him.

I guess since it is addressed to me I am allowed to answer...

Look at the list of "stars" Chuck Lorre has clashed with:

Roseanne Barr
Cybil Shepherd
Brett Butler
Charlie Sheen

I'm guessing the fault isn't all with Chuck Lorre.

It's VERY simple to keep the show going. Charlie is not the only draw, the other actors on the show are very endearing and funny. It's easy to add a new "man" one of two ways:

1: Charlie dies suddenly, maybe while off with Rose. A big service is held. Alan can re-connect with one of their cousins, who he asks to move in. Alan takes over the Charlie-like behavior now that he has the money. Hell, he has imitated Charlie before to get women.
Possible actors for cousin: Rob Lowe, James Spader, Scott Baio, Matt LeBlanc, etc.

2: Judith kicks Herb out and Alan offers to let HIM stay at the house. Everyone knows Herb is just dying to cut loose, him and Alan being "two wild and crazy guys" with disastrous results would be hilarious, and Judith could have more of an annoying presence. All they really need to do is let the show run a season or two more to tie things up, and then Lorre and Aronsohn can move on to create another comedy.

Agreed. The entire cast is stellar, with Jon Cryer, Conchata Ferrell, Holland Taylor and Melanie Lynskey delivering flawless performances week after week. Angus T. Jones is still a great young actor, but I find his star is outshone by his older co-stars.

Lori and anyone else who thinks the show will be a success without Charlie are complete fools.

Note >> The first new episode that airs with Charlie back will attract over 20 million viewers. CBS and Warner Bros. would have to be total dumbf***s to let this cashcow go!

Now I hope that was meant to be facetious. My postscript about having forgotten to address Lori was intended to clarify which post I was answering and, hopefully, avoid any confusion about my response.

But you know that :-)

@dimes

One does have to wonder about his choices in who he works with.

Perhaps Mr. Lorre is subconsiously (or not) a glutton for punishment?

Quite alright. One of the Internet's weaknesses remains the inability to adequately convey emotion/inflection.

If he's a glutton for punishment then he's picking the right people. Maybe he should try some of that drug called Charlie Sheen or blink his eyes and retrain his brain.
