Lohan to Sue Jewelry Store Over Surveillance Tape

3/8/2011 2:43 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Lindsay Lohan is preparing to sue Kamofie & Company jewelry store -- claiming they had no right  to cash in  from the sale of the infamous surveillance tape ... because Lindsay never gave them the right to use her image for profit ... TMZ has learned.

Lindsay Lohan Surveillance Tape

Sources connected to the surveillance video tell TMZ ... Kamofie sold the rights to distribute the tape to the Associated Press for at least $40k. The AP has since struck a deal with "Entertainment Tonight" in which the show got exclusive rights to air the tape for one week.

We're told Lohan met with her lawyers today ... no word on when she plans to file the lawsuit.

UPDATE: A rep for Kamofie tells us, "We regret to hear there is trepidation by Miss Lohan in connection with the video. "

The statement continues, "We hope that everyone understands that this is beyond our control, the flood of the requests to see this video were simply too overwhelming.  It was truly necessary to put it out."

Anderson Cooper stated that Dina Lohan sits on the internet all day long "monitoring" gossip sites about Lindsay.

Posted at 5:10 PM on Mar 8, 2011 by grandma cracker

If Anderson did in fact say this then I believe it to be true. He's a no BS kind of guy with a sterling reputation.

So, DINA, you are not qualified to be a manager of anybody because you cannot manage your own life! All your dysfunctions, and there are MANY, have been adopted by your daughter. If you love your daughter, step aside and check yourself into rehab. I can guarantee Michael yelled at you a lot, it's a learned behavior, and when combined with your hardheadedness and resentment filled heart, that's a no win for everybody.

I think ML went on CR because with the show, he has the power of their attorneys behind him to shield him from YOU. He can discuss his problems in a format that may be helpful to him and your daughter without the wrath of YOU.

Furthermore, when I went through rehab myself, and there was somebody who appeared on a show, so cameras came through, we discussed negative contracts. Recovery is all about honesty and if I were one of the 2 girls that Lindsay allegedly partied with, I would have come forward and said so. The threat of your lawsuit would not scare me in the least bit. People end up dying over negative contracts.

Oh yeah, tell your daughter to take a plea or she will be spending way more time behind bars than she can handle.

@Gail...LOL If you don't know there's an open case about Lindsay and a necklace going on, you might be a little out of your league here.

The Doc Is In

If the store got 40K for the tape, they have been fairly reimbursed for the necklace.

Does anyone think that the store would do this so Lindsay would be able to get less of a sentence?

I am a recovering addict myself, and I will tell you the one thing that helped me--jail. And, all of you saying jail won't help Lindsay, you are wrong. Rehab obviously has not helped her. She needs a good 120 days in a real jail with communal bunk beds and no private cell. It really will help.

Based on the stores comments that they didn't want to press charges I see that and the 40K as their other motive, they may feel somewhat bad about getting Lindsay involved in all this crap when they should have made a better attempt to contact her to get it back.

Huffington Post has an article by some doctor mark goulston, md
that says we haters have an addiction:
he calls it "Introjective identification" or Charlie Sheen and Voyeurism

"Compared to being somebody, being anybody can feel like you're nobody.

We get to stare, leer and live vicariously through the Charlie Sheens, Lindsay Lohans and Tiger Woodses and then watch them go off the cliff without us following. This gives us an escape from how painfully ordinary and insignificant many of us can feel.

"Introjective identification" is the psychological process of taking someone into our being and experiencing that as if we were them. It is usually done with regard to positive figures, from Jesus Christ to God to role models, but it can also be done with regard to very negative and self-destructive people -- like Charlie Sheen, Lindsay Lohan and others.

Part of what fuels that is that most of us have a hunger for experiencing life, but many of us have lives that can seem so incredibly mundane that it doesn't appear that there is much to experience. It is that hunger that causes us to watch sports, go to movies and plays, become riveted to "American Idol," "Dancing With the Stars," etc. and do many things that we observe, rather than actually participate in. It is also why we buy fancy cars, fancy clothing, jewelry, fancy homes and become addicted.

Sadly, addiction, once begun, triggers a huge outpouring of a neurotransmitter called dopamine. And then once we get a taste of it and how awful it feels to crash off that surge, we start looking for ways to keep the dopamine high.

Ironically, Charlie Sheen and the others may be addicted to drugs, but because of our need to keep our dopamine highs by watching and reading about them, we have become addicted to that. The only difference is that, thankfully, most of us can still manage to go to work and tend to our friendships and families, while Sheen et al. go off a cliff."
