Anthony Weiner Heckled

As He Resigns From Congress

6/16/2011 11:30 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Anthony Weiner just resigned his seat in Congress, as people in the room heckled him.

Weiner apologized to his constituents and to his wife.  He said he was announcing his resignation because of the distraction he caused.

When Weiner said he was resigning, applause erupted in the room, and hecklers began chiming in, making it difficult for Weiner to continue.  One of the people in the room -- Benjy Bronk from the Howard Stern Show, screamed, "Are you more than 7 inches?"  Another screamed, "Yeah, get out of here pervert."

As he walked out, one heckler asked, "Will you maintain your hot physique?"

Sad case. Sad man. Looks like its going to be difficult for him--can't blame anyone but himself.

good lord, why are people making it such an issue at least we all know he's normal. Most of the people that are yelling out are probably perverts themselves. "Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw the first stone"

It's a shame that an ignorant person, or persons were shouting vulgar and inappropriate language during the press conference. This type of behavior is not funny and not warranted. This person(s) behavior demonstrates the stupidity in our society.

Nice to see the House taking out the perverted garbage.

I remembered his speech on benefits for 9/11 first responders. Among other things, to ruin all his hard work with something so...stupid is a major disappointment.

Why don't female politicians ever have sexual scandals?

Someone said, "but Bill Clinton stayed in office." ... Not if he had been seen on cellphones all over the planet doing his sexploitatious philandering. We only heard about Clinton's affairs — we didn't see his shena****ns up close and personal and gross on our PDAs — big difference.
And, re. 'why don't female politicians ever have sex scandals' — they do. A few years ago in N. Ireland an MP (member of parliament) was caught at an affair with a teenage boy — the MP was in her 50s and was married to a longtime MP. Also, she used her influence and some public $$$$ to help her young lover. She resigned in disgrace and huge condemnation.

He shouldn't have had to resign since Clinton didn't. Clinton actually had sex. In the Oval Office. Not with a porn star, with a young intern. Then lied and continued to lie. He brought disgrace to the highest office in the land and remained in office. Oh, the hypocrisy.

This so-called scandal is a joke. There is no underage sexting going on. He did not cheat on his wife, and even if he did who cares? How many hundreds of thousands of people cheat on their wives/husbands, or have naughty online relationships? It does not take away from his job at all. In fact, these relationships of his have been going on for a long time, yet he was doing his job the entire time. So again, this so-called scandal is a crock.

Thanks for mentioning the heckling, TMZ — it's what stood out most in Weiner's resignation press conference, but no one else mentioned it.

If Weiner wasn't such hot dog, he wouldn't be in this pickle. Once he was on roll, the lies just kept coming. But now he's cooked. Stick a fork in him, he's done.

To "OhReally": this is NOT about perfection. It is about a man, an elected official, who got caught sending disgusting (by anyone's truthful account) pictures and text messages electronically (even the new CROSSDRESSING pictures of him) to numbers of women that he denied numerous times of ever having sent out. This ain't about some nobody in the private sector. Have you listened to recordings of Weiner in Congress? He SCREAMED at the opposition. He i*****ED by many of those in his own party. He has proven that he is a narcissistic jerk and was NEVER a nice person - no "charming rogue" tag for him - nor was he someone people wanted to work with. Weiner only won with a 59% vote in his own district last time. That seat will be up for serious fight by the Republicans, for sure. All of this has effectively lowered the opinion (and rightfully so) by all for those in elected office, and even more than it already is lowered. If his wife doesn't eventually file for divorce, I'll be totally shocked. Who would want to go on being married to a man (cough cough) like this? Stay tuned. Oh, and keep watching CNN. You see him there. Guaranteed.

Jesus, people, he didn't molest your children, rape your wives or impregnate your sister. What's with this incredible vitriol? Apparently, since we are all so powerless to fix things that really matter...like the economy...we take out our frustrations on this poor soul. I agree he needed to resign, but does he really need to be burned at the stake?

Annoymously heckling someone here is one thing, but doing it publicly as he resigned is another. Absolutely he should have resigned but the hecklers were just as classless as he.

I'm not a democrat, and I'm not a New Yorker...so this is completely an "outsider's" point of view. He should not of had to resign...if the media would let it go, allow him and his family to work thru the issue, instead of it being a headline every single day for the past 11 days...yeah, he could have gotten back to work and not been a 'distraction'. The guy is not only a victim of his own stupidity...but also the victim of a slow news week. If something else shocking or even somewhat noteworthy had happened, it might have taken some of the attention away from him and things would/could be different.

At least he was only heckled with an insult and no one brought a pie to his press conference.
