Elizabeth Smart -- Signs TV Deal With ABC News

It seemed like she always wanted to be in the public eye. Considering what she went through, I think she can do whatever she wants but it's clear this girl wants to be famous.

Good for her, she will be a strong voice.

i don't get that it is necessary to have a victim reporting about the neverending stream of victims... seems a little circular... im sure a book deal is next! you have more value than the fact you were kidnapped, you can rise above that versus reliving forever for a buck

go to hell. creating awareness to what happens to kids when they are kidnapped is necessary. whenever there is an amber alert, people find out about that missing person too late. obviously something needs to be changed and she is a voice. how dare you bash someone who got rapped and kidnapped. sick.

It makes perfect sense to have a victim represent the group. She knows what abducted children have gone through/are going through. She was one and she was one of the lucky ones.

She is using her experiences to help others. It's no different than a rape victim becoming a rape crisis counselor, a victim of domestic violence working with battered spouses, or a cancer survivor working with cancer patients. What happened to her was something that played out in the media.

To say she is trying to make a quick buck or trying to be famous is disgusting. Perhaps she should hide under a rock and wait to die for being a survivor.

Good for her. I am sure she will be a wonderful advocate for the lost and the missing. She is a smart woman--she got a s h i t ty deal, but she has found her way back to a productive, happy life. She is an inspiration for lots of people and a beacon of hope for many families.

oh whatever to all the haters who are hating... why do we have to victimize victims??? why do we have to put them on display and have them relive their trauma? ive been through some terrible things and im happy i wasnt made into a media spectacle about it and given a job that recognizes me as a victim!! just a personal opinion

I guess being raped wasn't that bad.

By that I mean that it sends a terrible message to would be pedophiles that what they do is not going to do long term damage to their victims.

If Elizabeth must do this, I hope she hammers home tips to help children get away from their tomenters.
