Amy's Mom: Her Death Was 'Only a Matter of Time'

7/24/2011 7:55 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Many people believed Amy Winehouse's hard partying ways would lead to her early death ... including her own mother.

Janis Winehouse told The Daily Mirror today she believed Amy's death was "only a matter of time" -- this after seeing her just the day before. She told the paper, "She seemed out of it. But her passing so suddenly still hasn’t hit me."

She said Amy told her she loved her as they parted company on Friday, saying, "They are the words I will always treasure ... I'm glad I saw her when I did."

Oh my God poor thing. Poor mother. No mother should have to bury their child. And this mother had to watch as her daughter slowly killed herself unable to break free from her demons.

First!! Yes be thankful for that. But I also can't understand why she didn't intervene. I mean I couldnt leave my daughter if she appeared out of it as she states. I just don't understand. This was just a typical od probably. Still, RIP Love, your safe now from your demons......

For those that think a parent or loved one can intervene in these situations, you are wrong. You can try, as her father did, but the person has to want to. It's not fair to talk bad about the mother; somes things are beyond a parents' control when the kid is old enough to not listen. Now, had she been under 18, maybe. But not when she's living on her own and you really have no control. Those should be bad mouthed are so called "rehab" facilties that do not good, but make MILLIONS.

Tragic all around but even her own mother knew this was coming. Why would you leave your drug addled daughter alone after seeming "out of it" knowing that she was on the brink of death though?

I agree Peoplearesilly. If the person doesnt want help, and is an adult, there is not a damn thing the parents, friends or anyone can do to force them to get it. Her parents tried, constantly, but Amy was so deep in that they just couldnt help her, no matter how hard they tried. These parents are mourning their child, placing blame is not going to help anything. They did what any good parent would do, love their child and try to get her the help she so desperately needed, she just did not heed their help.

My condolences Mr and Mrs Winehouse, may you be at peace knowing she is no longer suffering.

Why every time some one dies does TMZ just run the story into the ground?????????? I mean months after MJ died they were still posting about it 3 and 4 times a day.

I feel bad for her parents, If you want an example of "money can't buy happiness" I'd say this is it.

There is a reason she saw her daughter when she did. It was a blessing from God. IF only more people would learn from what Amy went through in her life, and how it ended-maybe then she could be helping others even after death! May she now rest in peace.

There's a big difference between being at peace and being dead. She's dead. There's nothing peaceful about that. It's definted by nothingness. Your pathetic delusions and hollow words are offensive. The person who says 'well at least they're at peace' to someone who's grieving is simpleminded, to say the least.

I hate the comments of those saying things like " one more drug not gone" amd blaming the Mother for not helping . I really dont know much about WInehouse. i was not a fan. But cruel remarks after someone has lost their life are nothing short of classless. I lost my sister at thirty two to alcoholism. People who have not dealt with an addict need to realize that sometimes when someone is hellbent on destruction, no one can save them.I tried with all my might to save my sister. I am so sad for Amy and her poor family. GOd bless each and every one of them.
