Warrant Pays Tribute

To the Late Jani Lane

8/13/2011 1:00 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Warrant dedicated their concert in North Dakota last night to Jani Lane -- punctuated by a performance of their classic song "Heaven" ... which was written by Lane and was actually their most commercially successful single.

Lane passed away on Thursday at the age of 47.

It's fitting the band he was no longer in did a dedication to Jani. I guess his replacement is locked in to the job for life. But given how long the last singer lived....

Actually a band right here in Sacramento wrote the song "Heaven" and successfully sued Warrant for copy right infringement. ....Not to take away anything but, this band was one the forefathers of the decline of heavy metal. But hey, R.I.P. Jani.

I believe he wrote this song even if it was the cookie cutter format to have a ballad on every hair metal album at the time, maybe.

He should have let the audience voice the song. That guy was way over the top, rock guy. Why in the world wouldn't one of the original members do the talking.

They didn't kick him to the curb. He put himself there. You can't tour with a drunk lead singer that can't stay sober enough to get through a show. They gave him plenty of chances and he was offered plenty of help. Hard to be in a band when they singer doesn't show up

It is unfortunate when someone dies. RIP. But let's not cloud the truth of the matter...Warrant has always SUCKED. the worst band within a horrible genre of bad music. This tribute is terrible. What a surprise.

His real name was John Kennedy Oswald. No wonder he had a troubled life. Oswald was bad enough but for his parents to put John Kennedy with it was a tragic mistake in an attempt to cushion the Oswald name. Maybe, George Washington Oswald would have been less traumatic for him.

lol and they didn't boot Jani out, it was a Mutual decision.
Jani was tired of the old and wanted New --actually hated 'Cherry Pie' song since the year it came out-- plus, he didn't wanna tour lowend venues like Warrant does now.
.
Rock On guys!!
