This man is SO full of himself. You have to see him on a talk show to get the full effect. He broadcasts smug like no one I've ever seen.

Methinks he doth protest too much! Ashton, a marriage ending is stressful enough without having to cover-up the truth of its demise. Confession is good for the soul, dude!!

He's partly correct, but also substantially wrong. The barrier to publishing was not just price, it was also content. The early reason for copyright was not to protect intellectual properties, for instances authors often received very little, but to grant monopolies. This was a ready form of censorship, that was used that way, and to preserve the profits from books for only the companies granted such monopolies. This began to change around the times pamphlets started to be produced by people like Thomas Paine, during the Enlightenment. So the barrier to publishing something wasn't price it was also politically acceptable content and the time to actually write something. Early pamphlets and newspapers were just as scandalous as TMZ or any other celebrity news, so were Ashton Kutcher in the 17th/18th/19th Centuries he would have the some trouble. Probably worse, their fact checking and due diligence was often non-existent back then. Their veracity could not be taken at face value, much as social media cannot, in fact it was probably worse. TMZ would have covered Nell Gwyn too. Lol.
