Heavy D

Fitness Crusade Before Death

11/10/2011 5:00 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

1109_heavy_d_wm_2Heavy D hadn't given up on his health before his death -- TMZ has learned, the rapper was serious about battling his weight up to the very end ... running nearly everyday, and frequenting several L.A. gyms.

One of his most recent trainers -- a guy named Tony, who helped Heavy D lose 150 pounds in 2008 -- tells TMZ, D stopped in to Ultra Body Fitness in West Hollywood 3 months before his death ... and began to re-strategize his training program.

Tony tells us, the rapper looked like he hadn't worked out in a while and wanted to get active again.

At that point, sources close to Heavy D tell us, the rapper embarked on a daily running regimen and frequented several other nearby gyms to diversify his exercise experience -- incorporating everything from hiking to boxing.

At his peak, Tony tells us, Heavy worked out 6-7 days a week.

When he died, we're told everyone at Ultra Body Fitness was shocked -- and the members even erected a small memorial in Heavy's honor (below).

OK, I know this is probably pretty f*cked up....but you know how guys sometimes have a name for their c*cks? Well, I've been calling mine (balls included) Heavy D and the Boys for like 15 years. Just figured I'd mention it.

I've often wondered if these training people have any education in their chosen field. What qualifies them to tell a 300 pound man to work out seven days a week and not know how its affecting his heart, etc. Are they licensed? Do they have a medical background? Why trust them?

These trainers should be forced to get medical degrees before they overwork their clients like this. I hope this clown gets the boot and finds another less injurious line of work...

The new headache drug renamed proprofin to protect the innocent is really a liquid form of ibuprofin or tylenal which could cause weakening of the bones, stroke, and heart attack. Simultaneously reducing the patient to a leathal overdose of poison!

when will people learn it's not only about exercise that will make you healthy. It's about what you eat. If you exercise and still eat tons of crap. You will not get healthier.

Jut because your b%&%h a$$ didn't know him doesnt mean his life is any less important then yours or any of the precious white folk who die that ya'll and the media talk about like they are Jesus. So because he was overweight gives you the right to be cruel when u know he has just died ? Thats exactly why white people have so uch misfortune and then want the whole wide world to pray and feel sympathetic for 'em.3 days...yeah thats how long it takes for white to turn black when dead !!!! Idiots !

Listen, for those of you who have nothing but negative and inappropriate comments to make about a guy you could care less about, just keep your mouth shut and move on to the next TMZ article. This guy was a really good person. And if you had the chance to grow up with his music and get a little bit of information about who he really was, you would understand why this is a story to begin with.

This individual wasn't some punk ass rapper selling dope on the streets or banging hookers on the corner and bragging about it to make cash. He made some really good music that made people unlike yourselves actually happy. He was an inspiration for many in the industry and out.

So give the man a little respect and move on. There are other issues in this world that are deserving of your negative energy.
